I bought this and returned because you must use a separate remote to control the volume with HDMI. Using optical sounds fine, but the TV can adjust volume directly, must use remote that comes with it.

I got this too but haven't opened it. So you can't control the soundbar at all with your TV remote? If so I'll need to return as well.

It doesn't even have HDMI so the above information can't be correct. If you use the optical cable, your TV will control the volume.

Most tvs send out a fixed level on optical. Some may have the option to switch to volume adjusting but the standard is fixed. So separate remote required with this.

Got this and ended up returning it for the Insignia speaker from Bestbuy that they have on sale for $24. Sound quality of this one is too muddy, especially when using for gaming. Great bass though.

This is a regret buy. I expected it to be at least equal to my portable Anker Bluetooth speaker that I use instead of my TV speakers. But reality is even the factory TV speakers sounded better than this. It does have more bass than my factory TV speakers but the mids and highs are much weaker. Actual clarity and volume is also much lower.
