The Viper has horrible reviews, but most seem to point at it being installed wrong. Has anyone here actually used this? The Compustar 1-way has 4.5 starts with 1000+ reviews. I have a 2-way Compustar from ages ago that works great but don't know anything about Vipers.

I had this exact product installed by Best Buy, and it's been working great so far. The remote feels a bit flimsy, but that's not a big issue since it can easily be swapped out for any reprogrammable Viper remote. I was able to start my car from half a mile away, which is impressive. I highly recommend choosing a 2‑way system over a 1‑way, as it provides confirmation alerts when the car actually starts. I paired mine with the VSM550 GPS module and signed up for a 3‑year service plan, can start the car remotely via cellphone/LTE.
I've owned other Viper models like the 4806V, and I also use a Compustar CS4202 on another vehicle....both are solid systems.
how effective is this? I have 2020 Hyundai SantaFe that is paid off. My car doesn't have auto climate control feature. It is manual. I have to be in the car and turn the knob around to turn on heat or AC. It has push button engine start though.
I would like remote starter to leave the car on for 5 mins and once I get in the car I can get heat as soon as I drive off. But don't know if this install of remote starter will cause problem with car or if its good or bad idea for car like mine that doesn't have premium feature like remote or auto climate control.

I had an older unit installed in my previous car for over 12 years without any issues. The newer DS4 models are much easier to install, and it indicates that they're compatible with your vehicle. With a manual system, you can't adjust the temperature remotely, so I simply leave the heat set to high when I turn the car off. That way, when I start it and let it run, the heating system is already on.
