If you read the terms and conditions, you can only redeem this on a Hulu or ESPN account. The Disney/Hulu bundle is billed through Disney. It states you cannot redeem this if billed on Disney, making the AMEX card member discount of $7 ineffective for the additional $3 bucks (Disney bundle $5 plus what people wanted of HBO $3 totaling $8 bucks). I personally tried and no go.

I'd go stand alone because in 2026 Hulu itself goes bye bye and will be a tab in Disney+.

To all those wanting to combine the Hulu/Disney with the $2.99 Max special:

You can just go to the HBO Max site and at the top is a banner with the HBO Max special that doesn't require you to bundle the deal. It's $2.99 for HBO Max. Same price, it's just not bundled with Disney/ Hulu.

I think most people realize that. The point of bundling would have been so billing would be via Hulu. That way Hulu would have billed $8, and those with Amex BCE would have to pay just $1 out of pocket, and those with BCP would have had it free. By signing up for HBO separately you still pay $3 out of pocket regardless of which Amex card you have.

Of course, for those without one of those Amex cards, it's a moot point and one can sign up on HBO directly like you mentioned.

Didn't work for me. It won't give you the option to add HBO for $2.99 if you use the $5 promo.

Nothing special. Same price from HBO site as a standalone. This gets a why bother. It is just generating commission income with no added value.
