So yea I got this and the Vicks one. So the Vicks one is great if you or kids have a cold or getting one .. add the vicks pads or vicks on top and it'll open you up, it's alsogood with allergies, I find it sooths it a bit.

also good to run to keep the room moist versus dry.

The Cool Mist Humidifier is just that, puts moisture in the air, great for those who get too hot at night. I will say though don't have it hit a wall too much, its constant moisture, so it'll get wet.
I definitely prefer the Vicks unit because it does both and find the Vicks unit more effective.
