Not ideal for smashburgers unless you are making only a few. Mathematically you could fit 9 normal sized smash burgers (4.25" diameter), but unless you're perfect at eyeballing how far apart to place the meatball that becomes a smash burger you are not gonna fit 9 (unlike 9 preformed 4.25" patties, which you could probably do consistently).

So probably you get 4-5 at a time. And I love my charcoal kettle, but I am not firing it up just to make 5 burgers.

There are larger diameter inserts that fit a 24" Weber or similar. Much cheaper too.
