I bought this deal a few days ago when it was $150 as well as the $250 brushless hammer drill and impact driver combo. The brushless combo is also on sale for $227 so $23 off of the already discounted price. I ended up going with the 6-port charger and oscillating multitool as my bonus items. Between the 2, I'm saving $56 of the already discounted price and I'm getting the following for a total of $344 (before tax):
  • 1x 1/2" Brushless Hammer Drill
  • 1x 3-Speed Brushless 1/4" Impact Driver
  • 1x 2.0ah MAX Output Battery
  • 3x 4.0ah MAX Output Batteries
  • 2x Standard Single-Battery Charges
  • 1x 6-Port Sequential Charger
  • 1x Brushless Oscillating Multi-Tool
I've had an older Black and Decker "Matrix" Multitool with changeable heads and it's been alright, but swapping heads is a bit finicky and the tools aren't the best quality. I am ready to start upgrading my tools and this is a fantastic time to start with the sales going on.
I was going to go with Ryobi, but there are some tools from other ecosystems that I want to use with an adapter and the damn dingle arm on the Ryobi batteries makes adapting them incredible cumbersome. For instance, I got an adapter for my Dyson v8 since the battery is finally dying after 5 years and the adapter for the Ryobi is comically large. I've already committed to Ridgid since it's price point is low to begin with, the quality seems decent for the "prosumer" level, and it has a lifetime service agreement (as long as you register it). I was between Ryobi, Ridgid and Hercules from Harbor Freight and I'm glad to be going with Ridgid.
Check in on me in a year once the honeymoon phase wears off and I'll give you a proper update haha.

This sequential charger is so bad, they're practically giving it away. It only charges batteries 1 at a time so you can be waiting for several hours for all the batteries to be charged. Who has time for that when you're on a job? You're better off using the individual chargers that generally come with the tools. This way all of your batteries will be charged around the same time. This was a terrible idea from Ridgid.

Sequential charging means you will have one FULL battery before charging the others. Would you prefer to have 4 batteries at 25% or one battery at max capacity? Just because they charge at the same rate doesn't mean that rate is very fast...

Rigid batteries are slide on and covered by the LSA life time service agreement when you register. So if they die you can warranty then

As far as adapters those are just plastic and some wires. You can get them on ebay and amazon.

I have one for my Bauer (harbor freight) pole saw and made several dozen cuts on sunday. Had no issues. A ryobi adapter would be a good idea if you plan to make rigid your primary line.

They are both made by TTI but rigid is a licensed brand name. They make more unique tools for ryobi. Also cheaper but no LSA

But with slide on batteries you can basically get a shim adapter to anything. They are all 18-21 v

Yes. I know what sequential means; basically, in sequence - 1 after the other. The reason why this charger sucks is that to charge a 6ah battery will take approximately 1 1/2 hours (90 minutes), so charging 4 batteries will take about 6 hours. Dewalt has a simultaneous 4 battery charger that will FULLY CHARGE ALL 4 6ah batteries in 1 hour. Which do you think is more practical for a job site? This is a useless charger. You're better off using the chargers that come with your tools so that you can get the batteries charged around the same time.

I believe all multi port chargers like this from all the brands are sequential. It's not a bad idea, I have ten batteries so it would be nice to be able to throw several of them on charge when I'm not using them and walk away. I never run into a situation where I'm waiting for a battery to charge so I can get back to work. To your credit, they could have made it be able to charge two batteries at a time, but charging all ports at the same time would overload your outlet.

I've loved all my ridgid tools over the last 10 years. Prosumer and better sometimes. they seem to have "nerfed" their tools/battery tech in the last several years because many of them had more power than Milwaukee... and they did some silly confusing things with their batteries. But it seems they're about to make a comeback. Not a fan of the subcompact line (I have the m12's now for most tasks), but their top end is still really good. Nowadays, most tool brands have plenty of power. Enjoy your new tools!

We have a Dyson cordless vacuum cleaner since I have plenty of lifetime warrant ridgid batteries and done went thru 2 Amazon cheap batteries for the Dyson as I can't see spending that kind of money Dyson wants for their batteries. Last time took a chance and bought a 12 dollar adapter from China and now use the Ridgid battery in the Dyson with no issues.
