Steps to do this:

Start a shopping chat

Open the AI assistant and describe what you're shopping for, including budget, brand preferences, and any must‑have features.

Let the assistant narrow the list and explain the trade‑offs between options until you see one you like.

Select the item and proceed to checkout

Tell the assistant to "buy" or "check out" with the item you've chosen; it will pass you to a checkout flow with the correct merchant and price prefilled.

On the payment screen, choose PayPal as the payment method if it is available; this is what enables PayPal's buyer protection and any linked promotion.

Apply and confirm the 50%‑type offer (if eligible)

Log in to your PayPal account; if your account or card qualifies for a 50% or similar promo, you should see the offer label or discounted total before you finalize payment.

Check the terms (maximum discount, eligible categories, and end date), make sure the correct funding source and shipping details are selected, then confirm payment to complete the order.

"Find me a deal on ".
^Try to ask it in this format.

(See screenshots of me using the same prompt for the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 [newegg.com])

Are you using the Perplexity app? I suggest using Perplexity through a web browser instead. The app didn't work for me when it came to getting the instant buy button to appear.

If the response doesn't give you one of the supported retailers as an option, switch from the 'Answer' tab to the 'Shopping' tab located at the top. You will most likely find the instant buy button option there. (See my attached screenshot)

Community Reviews

Perplexity shopping can unlock the PayPal 50 percent back promo on select merchants, especially Newegg, with some success on PC parts, microSD Express cards, gaming chairs, and clothing. The strongest results come from the Shopping tab in a browser, often after repeated prompts or generic queries like find me a deal on, and the offer can appear at checkout with PayPal as the payment method. The main friction is reliability, since instant buy buttons, merchant matches, and cart initialization often fail or surface the wrong seller. Rewards also tend to post later in PayPal Rewards activity, sometimes after shipment or a couple of days, and the 50 percent is capped at $50 and may include tax.

  • Instant Buy availability can be inconsistent by product and may require repeated prompting or a direct product link.

    antskvegammmunkle

  • Promo points may not appear as pending immediately after purchase, and some orders show no pending points for a while.

    ShrewdRose756monkeyman23Tyler54

  • Perplexity sometimes fails to pull back Shopping results or show the buy link even with the same query.

    DealDaddyygazorp

  • Checkout can fail with an error initializing the cart, making the deal hard to complete.

Okay thanks for the info. I ordered the MX master 4 and I'm scared I'm about to pay the full $120 for the mouse haha
The pending points finally showed up when Adorama processed the charge. And shortly after the points became redeemable. So longer time to show up as pending points but quick turn around in points confirmed. My buy now pay later points are still pending from an order before this while I've managed to cash out this order already. $73 for MX master 4 Adorama final price

I used it on a Ryzen 5500 processor that was just under $100 from a well rated NewEgg seller. So my pre-tax cost is around $50. Ordered a motherboard with 16 GB RAM, and the processor has a cooler, so this is $150 upgrade. This will be much faster than the i5 2500K I've been using, that was bottlenecking my GeForce 1660 Ti at 1080p gaming.

Have your points posted?
Didn't know this worked on third party Newegg sellers.

Ordered a mouse 12/1 off newegg using perplexity (after a dozen attempts of getting it to return a link with Newegg as the seller).
It shipped same day. Received today.
No pending points in Paypal yet.
Hopefully, it shows up soon. I do not look forward to a customer support session with either Perplexity or Paypal.

I got it to work many times but I couldn't get the price that is listed on the website. Seems the process added about $10 the price which I wasn't about to pay extra not even for a 50% discount.

otherwise the other half, the process said you have to visit the website to checkout.

Basically same timeline as me. I got the points pending now, but it's not under the activity tab in the app. It showed up this AM in the rewards section under "reward activity" for me.

I was able to click the 50% discount but it was after 12:00pm EST. You think it goes through?
