This pack is legendary. Lasted me 6 years now and still kicking. Strap system in front is ultra secure even if zippers break (unlikely.) Wide hip belt really takes weight off shoulders too.
I don't have this one but I do have a much smaller one I use for mtn biking that I had for I don't know 10-15 years before one of the zippers destroyed itself. Sent it in through their amazing forever no questions ask warranty and they sent me a brand new one. Great company.

Too big for personal. I've used it as my carry on.
I fly domestic and international all the time using this as my personal item. You should have no issues as long as you can put it under your seat (if you max out it's capacity, it may not fit under a seat, so be strategic).
I hate checking a bag, so I've mastered the art of traveling with only carry-on and a personal item. I typically use the Osprey and a roll-on, but I just came back from a 7 day business trip to Cairo using this and a convertible garment bag (https://a.co/d/3glIXOz).

Thank you. I bought one and will give it a go

I have been eyeing this bag for a while, can't pass on this price. I assume it's the new current version?
It is not. There is a 2025 revision. You can see them on the osprey site. Seems like minor changes like pocket shape and some material changes. Still fundamentally the same bag
I have this for travel. it is carryon size around the world. Your limiter with it overseas is weight.
I pair it with a smaller day pack that I attach to the back, or front for turtle mode. I took this pack 2wk to Japan and 3wk for Europe/Africa and it did splendidly.
The hip belt and ergonomics are outstanding for long days hiking the streets.
I would highly recommend it even at full price.
nite that it doesn't have a lot of internal pockets so packing cubes can be very helpful for organization.
