To add, Crandall does excellent refurbishing on their chairs. I have had a Steelcase Amia from them that I've been using for the last five years. Feels just like the ones at the office, but got it for a very decent price. This seller is one I would go back to if I needed another chair in the future.
Crandall's open box Steelcase chairs stand out as well refurbished, office grade seating that feels close to new and holds up for years. The Leap V2 and Amia get the strongest praise for comfort, especially for upright all day work and for backs that need support. Warranty support and customer service also look solid, with replacement parts handled without fuss. The main caveat is fit, since these are work chairs rather than lounge chairs, and some Leap and Vantum comfort complaints point to personal preference. A dependable refurb source if you want a serious desk chair.
office chair shoppers who want strong after-purchase support because commenters report Crandall handled warranty claims without fuss and even replaced parts like a cylinder with no questions asked.
people who want an office work chair for sitting upright for long periods because commenters say these are meant for upright work and not for lounging or laying back.
buyers with back issues who are shopping for a Steelcase Leap because one commenter says the Leap is the best option, especially if you have back issues.
buyers who are okay with refurbished/open-box inventory variability because commenters explain the stock is bespoke factory returns that vary based on what comes in and passes inspection.
people looking to lounge, recline, or nap in a chair because commenters explicitly say these are office work chairs for sitting upright and not for lounging or laying back.
adult buyers who need a chair with enough padding because one commenter says a Vantum looks good but lacks enough padding for an adult and they can't recommend it.
buyers who are specifically sensitive to seat/butt-pad fit because commenters report issues like butt-pad depth being too shallow leading to ass pain and many ending up with an HM Aeron 100% instead.
Crandall's refurbishing is described as excellent, and chairs can arrive looking and feeling new even though they are refurbished. Orders have also arrived in good shape, which makes the open-box and remanufactured listings feel closer to office-new than used.
The warranty is reported to be strong, with a cylinder replacement handled 7 years into coverage with no questions asked. Customer service is also described as easy to work with, including warranty claims that were resolved without fuss and replacement parts sent out.
The Leap is repeatedly described as a strong choice, especially for people with back issues. It is also framed as an upright office work chair rather than a lounging chair, so it is best for long sitting sessions at a desk.
Crandall has handled returns smoothly for at least some purchases, but not every listing is returnable. The Fern deal in this thread is specifically noted as not eligible for return, so shoppers should check the return policy on the exact chair before buying.
The remanufactured Leap V2 listings can be close in price to the open-box Leap V2 even with the code, and remanufactured models add customization options like BioKnit fabric. That makes remanufactured units a better value if you want more configuration choices.

This seems like a good deal, I've purchased through Crandall a couple of times and had to do a return for one purchase, they were easy to work with and the products showed up in good shape both times. The steelcase leap v2 is a really good chair if it's in your price range.
The prices of their remanufactured Leap V2 are pretty close (cheaper) to these open box Leap V2 even with the code, and you get the benefit of customizing the remanufactured ones, like with their BioKnit fabric.
I have had a Steelcase Amia for 12 years now and it has been the greatest chair I've ever owned. Still going strong, had to buy new elbow pads for it a few times from use but that's it.
