I also need to perfect a banana bread recipe....again. This one hurt because I actually had a recipe that I had tweaked off and on for a year. I only had it written down because I was still changing this and that. I finally say, yes, this is it and get ready to type it up and my paper came up missing. I don't know if someone else picked it up or if I accidentally threw it away. I have looked everywhere and still can't find it. That one hurts.

But "perfect" chocolate chip cookie is subjective, depends on what YOU like.
I like thin & chewy with crispy edges.
That means less flour, more butter.
And I've found the turbindo/demerara sugar adds to the chewiness without making it cakey.
I use pink salt, less than the recipe calls for, b/c I think it has more interesting flavors from other minerals than table salt
And the chopped up candy bars or chocolates made for eating melt better than the chips.
During the holidays, I mix in
-toasted coconut, not sweetened
-toasted almond slivers (not to everyone's taste)
-broken candy cane. Keep the bits away from the edges, even on a silicone baking sheet. They make the cookie spread far too much if the pieces are too big or near the edge. This is the most popular option.
I hope this gives you some ideas as you search for YOUR perfect cookie recipe.
About banana bread, well, I freeze overripe bananas & give them to MIL She makes a banana cake. She likes bananas so much hers NEVER get overripe.
Should I ask for her recipe? It probably dates back to the 30s.
Paradise - yes but I didn't like the last episode
Fargo - yes but only if you're a Billy Bob Thornton fan (questionable morality, unlikeable characters, and plot holes)
Handmaid's Tale - maybe on season 1 (very weird and a lot of it didn't make sense), no on season 2
The Killing - no (although the 2 detectives are good)
Superstore - yes, you'll crack up
Abbott Elementary - loved it
Justified - yes
Handmaid's tale - I think reading the book helps. I quit when the show quit following the book but it's not so much about action or even the story, but a cautionary tale that many people see coming to life in the current USA.
We were able to get Disney+/Hulu for $5/mo, up to 1yr but we'll probably only do 2 months while we're huddled inside trying to keep warm (sorry to whine when there are those with actual SNOW but 40 in the Bay Area feels colder to me than 20 in MT. It's the damp/marine influence I think).
We're bingeing Mandalorian. Better than other things we've watched.
