Technics AZ100 earbuds stand out for big, detailed sound in a compact fit, with strong bass, wide soundstage, and very good call quality. The smaller shape sits more comfortably than the AZ80 for some ears, and the app EQ can push the tuning even further. Noise cancelling is solid but not over ear level, and the touch controls require tapping the buds directly. There is also concern about occasional hissing or popping and about latency for gaming, making them a strong everyday listening pick if those tradeoffs do not matter.
Critical listeners wanting flagship-level earbuds, because the sound is repeatedly described as superb with noticeably better bass and soundstage than Sony models.
The AZ100 is described as a noticeable step up in sound quality over the AZ80, with a smaller in-ear fit and stronger bass and soundstage than Sony WF-XM4/XM5. It is also positioned as an upper-echelon earbud that can rival or slightly edge out AirPods Pro for some listeners.
The AZ100 is reported to fit smaller and feel lighter in the ear than the AZ80, and one buyer preferred it over the Momentum 4 because of better fit and comfort. The AZ80 is also described as very comfortable by another owner, so the line is generally strong on fit.
Call quality is reported as excellent, even with loud background noise like an ambulance passing by. ANC is strong for earbuds but not as effective as an over-ear headset, even after trying different ear tips.
The AZ100 was reportedly $199 from the same Technics USA store about two weeks earlier, and code Technics25 can take another 10% off on the website. That makes the current price more attractive if the code still applies.
Latency is reported at about 0.5 seconds on the AZ80, which makes them poor for gaming unless you manually adjust video delay. Codec can affect the delay, but the reported lag is enough to be a practical drawback for gaming.

FWIW, I have the EAH-AZ80 (one model down from the Z100) and it sounds excellent (I'm pretty picky about sound quality). The only bad thing I can say about them is the approximately .5 sec latency, so they're not good for gaming, and you have to adjust the delay on your video player. My older Sony WH-1000XM3 had an approximately .3 sec latency. Apparently this can vary by Codec, so I'm not going to draw anything conclusive from it. Oh, and noise cancellation is not as good as an over-the-hear headset, even after trying different ear tips (this is probably true of any in-ear headphone). Rtings has the numbers for the AZ100[rtings.com].

Have you listened to momentum true 4 and can compare?

I just bought the AZ100 and recently tried the Momentum 4. I had to return the Momentum due to ear pain while wearing Overall, I prefer the technics better. The sound quality, fit, and comfort are all better for me. I'm really enjoying these so far YMMV

I have the Z100s and the sound quality is amazing. How are you testing the latency? The Z100s support LDAC, that may help improve the latency over AAC.
I don't know anything about wireless earbuds. I've been using the AirPods Pro. I want to try other brands. How do these compare?
rtings calls these out as the best earbuds by a small margin rtings.com/headphones/reviews/best/by-type/in-ear-earbuds but probably not better enough than the airpods pro to warrant the extra purchase.
