The laptop was recently on eBay as a refurb at $1250 which sold out and Costco has it on sale for $1350 so I think you have a really good deal being new.

Seems pretty dang slick after that. I'm not sure of the math of the order of the discounts, but it would be under $1000 and closer to $900
Also, there's not much in terms of CPU performance options besides disabling all E-cores. XTU CPU undervolting and core-parking are currently impossible since Acer didn't bother to put the overclocking toggle in the BIOS. It's a major blow to anybody hoping to reign in such a mighty CPU crammed into such a thin laptop. GPU tweaking isn't much better either but I haven't spent as much time in there either, admittedly. Since I'm trying to run this off of USB- C, I'd have loved to restrict the CPU down to 35 watts, and force a 4+8 core config, if only I could...
The Windows experience overall is... terrible. Bloat is actually not bad, but for some reason, it's been very clunky and inconsistent even after installing all windows updates. Running a Linux Live session is buttery smooth (as usual), and if I wasn't trying to run DXO on this machine or wanting to occasionally play the one game I'm even remotely interested in playing that will never work in Linux thanks to idiotic kernel-based anticheat, I wouldn't even bother with Windows. Its just that bad out of the box. I'll try a clean install soon, but my hopes aren't high.
