This Intel Ultra 7 255U seems to be better than the 258V X1 Carbon Gen 13 deal. 255U seems to be newer processer with 12/14 cores/threads vs 8/8 and lower TDP, and probably longer battery life with IPS instead of OLED on other deal.

Hello Mr akhpp8395,

Full disclaimer I am an inbred, infirm, needy, handicapped child that was thrown away multiple times over, who lives in his grandmother's basement surviving on peas and rice six nights out of the week.

With that said I did an analysis of your comment with my AI researcher I call Roger (gpt 5.1)
And while it said that you were on to something with the efficiency and battery life of the 255U, It stated several times over that the OLED deal is a much better purchase because of
  • Arc graphics instead of purely integrated
  • 258v having 5 to 10% better performance overall
  • OLED screen being much nicer
  • The RAM on the OLED being 5% faster
It said the 255u would be better for traveling and in some edge cases.
But wanted to provide Rogers analysis before we took this any further.
I still thank you and I still love you Mr. akhpp8395

I think 258v is newer architecture than 255u, iGPU is also way better on 258v.
Could be wrong, need more expert confirmation.

V is lunar lake, u is arrow lake. U is less efficient and generally worse which is why they pair it with ips which Lenovo also views as generally worse. This is the cheapened version of the x1

Newer but not really better just different.Weaker multicore perf in exchange for being able to run at a lower powered combined with a better igpu and npu

I think this is a great deal for me to upgrade form my x1 carbon 6th generation and I like the fact that this model has the touch screen even though its not the OLED, I use my touch screen all the time and my old model is only 300 nits, this one I believe is 500 nits? and the processor is much faster than my 2017 model, and the ram is much faster than my 6th generation. Time to upgrade. If only the newest model had a OLED touch screen option, I think they do have the arrowlake processor model with an option for the OLED touch screen, but it but it's not on sale and you must custom build it with the OLED Touch. not sure why they aren't making OLED touch as a

Any thoughts on this one vs this one:
https://slickdeals.net/f/18883900

They both seem similarly priced and discounted. Does it mostly come down to more power on the other vs more portability here?

I have a student account. However, it still showed $1239. I didn't want to wait and pulled the trigger. Do you think Lenovo would provide the $1119 price if I call them?
