Pioneer is essentially a rebranded TCL. TCL has had a licensing agreement to make Pioneer TV's for several years now.

Just a heads up I heard from a local tech that this is not the Pioneer that made quality stereo equipment, they sold the naming rights to a Chinese company and the quality is horrible.

I have a 58" hisense Roku from 6 years ago, and a 50" Vizio from 3 years ago that are everything I could want. 58" Hisense was the $289 Walmart one from way back and it's still going strong, lots of use on it, and quality is more than enough for a casual watcher.

Thx, I have tcl in the cart from Costco, debating between. This one is half the price tho.

Good as in it won't die for several years? Probably. Good as in picture quality? Not really. Pioneer is basically on the same level as Onn.
I'd put Vizio above both Onn and Pioneer.

TCL has been dropping some bangers this year and keeps trading blows with Hisense in the higher-end budget range. Panasonic deserves a mention too, they're still putting out solid sets.

Use rtings to compare.

Was wondering how the quality is on this but maybe since it is a rebadged TCL it may be ok? A while back BB had an LG 40" that I bought and hate the image quality on it. There was a reason why it was a BF deal. Luckily it is in the guest bedroom but still sour about how bad the picture is.

Note to self: Stop looking at SlickDeals. I bought this (the 70" version) last night as the pries wee only good for four hours or so. I didn't get it delivered - I have a truck and this way I can cancel if I want (have to pick it up by December 3rd). I might go to a Best Buy that has it in stock to check it out first.

I really don't need another TV - I could stick this in my bedroom but am not the "watch TV in the bedroom" kind.

I could use a bit of advice - assuming i cancel this because it will be not worthy of replacing what I have now. My main TV is a 2009 50" ERA Panasonic S series plasma. It was a fantastic TV at the time (after tuning it) and even today the picture is fantastic. (I do keep the room dark when watching.). So I am wondering - if I do decide to get serious about a replacement because I want something bigger (and hopefully better), what should I be looking at? Yes, this is a bit weird in that back then I knew a lot about what was available - but now I am effectively an idiot when it comes to this. Thanks.

Manufacturers make so many levels of tv panels that it's not easy to say, "TCL makes good TVs." They make some good ones and some entry level garbage, too. The best source of unbiased information on TVs is www.rtings.com I suggest you look there to get an idea of what you might want.
