Deal History
Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
I have been tracking the 9100 Pro for a few weeks now. Last best Slickdeal posting was $170, so I took advantage of the Paypal 20% off (4310 points) from Best Buy @ $199.99 and a CB site 4% ($8) taking it down to $148.89+tx. Hopefully, in the next 15 days I can price match someone, but I am OK with the deal I got either way.

Same. I would even prefer the 8TB if it drops to a more reasonable price since its sitting at 750 now. Even 4TB isn't much space these days with games easily going over 100GB.
Plus there isn't anything foresably better coming in the horizon since this is the end all/be all premium PCIE Gen5 drive right ?
It's useful if you have PayPal (most do) and have not used the 20% deal buying through Best Buy instead. Otherwise, pay the extra $40 from Amazon if you want the Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB.
What's making them go up next year? (I genuinely am curious)
AI and the consequences of stupid money being dumped into datacenters. Turns out you need to have lots of fast RAM and storage to go with those shiny GPUs.

I for one was not aware that Paypal had a discount at some stores. Is this a credit card thing or did I (quite easily have) miss(ed) an email?
Edited to add: Specifically, Best Buy. I see the 20% Cashback at certain stores, but I don't see Best Buy apart of that group. :/

The PayPal thing has been discussed quite a bit on the forums.
At first it was usable an unlimited number of times but people noticed that and PayPal woke up to it and now it's a one-time use offer.
