Solid saw. Got it for $100 on sale ten years ago when it was still called Hitachi. After about 5 years if medium use, sold it on Craigslist for $100. And it's still $100 new.

I own this saw. It's excellent. Very light and good to go right out the box. Got it from Amazon just over a year ago for $79.00. No way we'll see that price again, so if you're in the market for a simple and solid miter saw, the time to pull the trigger is now.

Is the Shadowlight system good enough for accurate cuts? I was thinking of buying one with LED Laser line but not sure if worth the money.

Actually haven't opened the box yet, was planning some work in December when I first saw the deal. I'm assuming it'll be fairly accurate, but will do some test cuts to confirm

Same price at Menards but with additional 11% rebate in store credit. Effectively making it $88.

Seems like a solid deal, but if you plan to cut wider pieces of wood, then it might be a good idea to consider the pros and cons of sliding vs non-sliding saws:
https://www.thehandymansdaughter....miter-saw/
A non-sliding 10-inch saw can often cut a 2x6 (approximately 5.5 inches wide) in a single pass at a 90° miter angle, while a sliding 10-inch saw can crosscut boards up to 12 inches wide when the saw is at a 90° miter angle.

The shadow light is more accurate than a laser because it cast a shadown based on the actual blade and the shadow is the same thickness as the blade, regardless of which side of the blade you measured to. The laser gets adjusted to only cut from one side because it isn't the same width as the blade.

bought this and it works really well. had to get used to the shadow light, but it made cutting 45 degrees to match my exterior molding very well. probably could switch out the blade and use it as a chop saw for making exhaust/ turbo stuff
