The 18v lines have much more tools options, but are bigger and heavier. All depends on the need.
Some people don't care about different battery lines, but I try to stick with one so I don't need multiple chargers and have to match tool to battery to job.

This Milwaukee M12 combo is a compact starter kit for basic homeowner and DIY work, with the drill driver and impact driver praised for being small, light, and handy for hanging pictures or other general tasks. The included batteries are CP2.0, and the ratchet is brushless, though the kit is not the FUEL version and the ratchet itself is brushed. The ratchet is useful for many projects but only has about 35 pound feet of torque, so it is not meant for lug nuts. It fits best if you want a lighter 12 volt setup and do not mind staying in the M12 ecosystem.
Common Questions (5)
No. The drill and impact driver in this kit are the standard brushless M12 tools, not FUEL. The ratchet is also not FUEL, and the kit is positioned as a smaller, lighter option than the FUEL lineup.
The ratchet is brushed, not brushless, and its torque is about 35 lb-ft. That makes it useful for general projects and tight spaces, but not for lug nuts or heavy-duty fastening.
Yes. The drill and driver are described as ideal for hanging pictures and other basic DIY tasks, and the smaller 12V tools are easier to keep nearby and use than larger 18V/20V options. It can be limiting if you plan to expand into bigger projects or a larger tool lineup.
If you want more power and plan to keep building out the M12 system, the FUEL versions are the better long-term pick. For about $30 more, you can get FUEL driver and ratchet tools, but that bundle does not include the drill.
The kit includes CP2.0 batteries. That gives you compact M12 packs suited to the smaller, lighter tools in this bundle.

But I'd probably hold out for the fuel version. And skip the ratchet unless you really need. I have the ratchet, it's good, but I don't think a tool you need to add unless your use requires it. It's only like 35lbs of torque, so not going to be pulling off lug nuts, but it's good for some projects.
If you view full product details, then this combo kit is inexplicably not an option. So, again, do NOT view the product details, just add directly to your cart. Hope this helps!
