This Milwaukee M12 combo is a compact starter kit for basic homeowner and DIY work, with the drill driver and impact driver praised for being small, light, and handy for hanging pictures or other general tasks. The included batteries are CP2.0, and the ratchet is brushless, though the kit is not the FUEL version and the ratchet itself is brushed. The ratchet is useful for many projects but only has about 35 pound feet of torque, so it is not meant for lug nuts. It fits best if you want a lighter 12 volt setup and do not mind staying in the M12 ecosystem.

  • The drill driver can handle general new-homeowner tasks like hanging items around the house.

  • The kit's ratchet torque is about 35 lb-ft, which suits many project fasteners without lug-nut use.

  • The non-FUEL tools are smaller and lighter, which can make homeowner use more convenient.

  • The M12 ecosystem can support long-term household use when paired with the right FUEL tools.

  • The kit is not the M12 FUEL version, which can limit performance expectations.

  • Starting in the M12 12V line can soft-lock tool options and increase costs later versus moving to 18V.

  • The ratchet is not brushless even though the drill/driver is brushless.

  • The ratchet may be unnecessary for some buyers because its torque is not intended for lug nuts.

That's true, but they are still brushless. Not the ratchet though—that's brushed

I'd try to start with the end in mind if you can. If you just need to do basic DIY stuff these are great. If you plan on expanding into more tools to do "bigger" types of projects this line will limit the tool options, and tend to be fairly expensive beyond the first combo kit.

The 18v lines have much more tools options, but are bigger and heavier. All depends on the need.

Some people don't care about different battery lines, but I try to stick with one so I don't need multiple chargers and have to match tool to battery to job.

If you are buying a house or plan to do work yourself I would highly recommend going up to the FUEL line. My M12 Fuel set has be my companion for all my household needs for 8 years and going strong. Almost wanted more power doing some outdoor decking, (treated wood) work but was doable with a m12 FUEL. Your pick if you need this for your needs.

Probably yes.I have the m12 fuel version of the drill and driver among other things and it's plenty. These pack a major punch for being 12v. Saws are probably the only thing not great for m12, but I mostly use corded saws.

But I'd probably hold out for the fuel version. And skip the ratchet unless you really need. I have the ratchet, it's good, but I don't think a tool you need to add unless your use requires it. It's only like 35lbs of torque, so not going to be pulling off lug nuts, but it's good for some projects.

This should be plenty for a new homeowner. The fuel versions are great but a bit bigger. I chose these because they are smaller and lighter which I find handy for homeowner use. Unless you're driving structural or big deck screws all day you're good with these.

Aha! So you want to add directly to the cart - do NOT choose "view full product details."

If you view full product details, then this combo kit is inexplicably not an option. So, again, do NOT view the product details, just add directly to your cart. Hope this helps!
