This HVAC tune-up is best understood as a low-cost inspection and maintenance check, with some visits including disassembly, cleaning, testing, and written findings that can help spot failing parts before a breakdown. The strongest reports describe technicians checking filters, coils, drain lines, wiring, capacitors, and heat or cooling operation without pushing repairs. The main drawback is that many visits are described as visual only, with coil cleaning, deeper maintenance, or real repairs charged extra. Upsells, rescheduling, and occasional bait-and-switch pricing also come up, so it feels most useful when the local contractor is reputable and the scope is confirmed first.
Common Questions (5)
The service can lead to upsells for monthly plans, cleaning add-ons, repairs, or even replacement quotes. Some visits stay low-pressure, but others reportedly turn into sales pitches for new furnaces, UV systems, or expensive repairs after the inspection.
It is often described as an inspection/operation check rather than a full tune-up. The listed scope can include checking wiring, capacitors, airflow, refrigerant pressures, and furnace safety items, while coil cleaning and other maintenance are typically extra or not included.
For some homes it can be useful as a low-cost inspection, especially if you want a written report, warranty maintenance, or a basic check before selling. Others found it too limited or not worth it because the visit was brief, mostly visual, and focused on selling follow-up work.
Not usually. The posted scope says the outdoor unit may only be hosed down if a hose is available, without chemical cleaning, and coil or blower cleaning is often treated as an extra charge.
Yes. One scheduling call was quoted $99 instead of the promotional $8.88, and another service led to a $599 bill after a $5.99 duct-cleaning offer, so confirming the promo price in advance is important.

Whats your business name so I make sure to not use you!!!! Well that and I am a bit farther in PA but still I am offended as a Slickdealer that you wont take a loss for a paying customer, unacceptable!!
LOL, I don't know what the expectation are around this deal and find it super corny to be part of a Blackfriday deal ha. As others have said not sure if you are expecting a service from these companies or a visual inspection without any actions where they take things apart. The risk with that is that if something was about to break on a system, the technician touching that components might actually make it stop/break.....taking the shady aspect of things out of the conversation here like them actually breaking anything. Just level setting the expectation.
I think like this poster said this is a loss leader type service and if its done genuinely it might build a list of paying clients in the future, hopefully ha.

You must request an appointment before December 3 and your home must be within 30 miles of a Home Depot location.
Tune-up price is for central A/C or heating system only and valid for standard working central A/C unit, heat pump, or gas furnace models. All systems must be within the same home.

The benefit is if you have an older unit they will let you know areas of potential failure. But you have to know they are going to push equipment upgrades. And they will most likely point out all the repairs that are needed and could be needed in the future. And thats how they convince you to replace because they compare it to a new equipment.
It's not worth the $9 to spend a hour or more letting them sell you.
Research what you should receive during an HVAC maintenance. And find a company that will provide those services.
