I got this deal last year. It was a waste of time. The guy was constantly trying to upsell me on their monthly plan. I would not recommend it.

People out here thinking HVAC techs really go out on $9 tune-up calls like it's a money maker or good for business. Even worse, it's through Home Depot who will contract with the bottom of the barrel.
Don't waste your time, money and potential future headaches.

This is basically them upselling you with new furnace or other things. Honestly not worth it.

Should we even need it for a new construction house bought this year?
You should check to see if you have a warranty that requires annual tune-ups.

I filled out the contact form and was called back about 5 minutes later. I'm good at turning down upsells. I need this done, so we'll see how it goes.

They just called me and scheduled for today. Weird that it has an opening today on Thanksgiving. I am in San Jose, CA. $8.88 for hvac and $8.88 for heater. Will see if it is a waste of money.
I am in your same area, look forward to hearing about your experience.

I used to work for an AC manufacturer that partnered with Home Depot. Home Depot takes a huge cut from both the mfg and contractor. Most established contractors would leave the program as it cost them too much. Unless HD is subsidized the contractor, the contractor would lose about $100 on each call. You cannot run a truck and pay a qualified technician for $9 a call.

If you want your AC serviced find a small operation with good reviews. This Hd deal is probably a waste of everyone's time.

Not Home-Depot contracted: In all the tune-up I did, they just check and test the components but never clean the coil, radiator fins, etc.

My wife had one of those people come out, not HD but a similar place, maybe Costco, and it's just a scam to get more service done.

The number of people who actually get this for $8.88 is probably 0.01%.

They will find issues. In my case, $10,000 to replace the asbestos ductwork in my attic. Had to pass on that.

I was fooled and purchased this last year. Guy came and used my garden hose and sprayed the crap out of my AC unit from the outside. Didn't even bother to open it. Then, he tried to sell me annual cleaning service and an "upgraded" furnace unit for $7k. I told him to scram.

My local HD contracts with AJ Perri which has a pretty rep here in NJ. I'm scheduled for next week.

I get all the hate at this being an upsell and the criticism, but i'll take my chances at under $9 because last year I paid for a $50 "tune up" for the HVAC guy to tell me everything he sees as an "issue" and I'd like to see if thats consistent with what this person will tell me this year from a different company.

For example, I was told my blower fan is super dirty and was suggested a replacement at $700. I'm sure its dirty but I'll likely just take it out and clean it myself.
It could be a means to get the HVAC guys contact info for off company time sidework too..if hes any good.

The company that is contracted with my Home Depot has a good rep in my area.
