at checkout.... simply ask for card and valid ID. Members should not have an issue with that. But asking a card at the entrance is an overkill...... I used to love Costco but many things are going in opposite direction lately and started hating it.
They don't want to gum up and slow down check outs with non members. Every bar cards people at the door too, can't go in unless you should be there...

Costco's policy is that anyone can use the pharmacy for prescriptions, not OTC medicine. This is because of a federal law about healthcare access, which also opens up some other health services.

Liquor licenses in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Texas and Vermont also require alcohol to be sold to everyone.

Sams is no better in any way either except they carry few more SKUs than Costco. Rest is nightmare there as well.

I don't know how it is where you live but here in Long Island City the Costco food court is separate from the store and doesn't require card to enter. It is constantly swamped by lowlives who are abusing the cheap meals and hanging out there for hours. Regular Costco customers have to wait in long lines to pick up order and the have nowhere to sit and eat it because local "youth gangs" are taking up all the tables.
I cannot imagine these people would be allowed inside the store without membership where they would open packages and eat what they want and then steal some stuff and just bolt off.
I am very glad they require card scan at the entrance.
Didn't know that was a thing. Our Costco food court asks for a membership card before you pay. I can only imagine what it would be like if they didn't.

was looking through, sadly most of the items are cheaper in warehouse so it's not as much of a discount for a lot ofitems.

The time people have to monitor this thread and continue to die on the anti-Costco hill...

Have some turkey and nap.

That's because it's combining all discounts. You likely need to hit $250 threshold AFTER discounted price.

Like say for instance if you buy 4 bags of the $68.99 protein powder, it would be ~$276 before discount, but after discount it's ~$220. In which case it won't deduct the $40 until you add another >$30 worth of eligible items.

I just stubbed my toe on the 2 per member part of the deal. I get it now. Thanks

Can't stand Costco. Hate the way they throw an absolute fit over showing your card to get in.
i personally like it as it reduces the number of people just going in to look without intent to buy and make it even more crowded than it already is.

it's a private company, if you don't like their rules, don't go? lmao it's that simple my dude

It is a members only club... how else are they supposed to verify your membership?
When you check out you have to have a card

I scan my CitiBank Visa that I plan to use to pay for entry, seems painless enough.

Plenty of people were using others' membership cards and making a scene at the checkout - it is better for the rest of the real members to check upon entrance, not witnessing arguments. Most importantly for Costco - they implemented self checkout, so the only way to assure real members are using the store is to check upon entrance.

They could make you scan your card at the register or check receipt at the exit
