I have the little brother of this the N600 that I picked up for $500 and it is great in the right environment. I use this as my office system and it is loaded with features and MusicCast is quite good. Airplay 2 is really handy. Everything works well, the receiver sounds good and has a pure direct mode to cut out as much noise as possible. The N800 has additional features like room correction. Great for a music focused system. You have great streaming options from your network or streaming apps and plenty of hookups for things like vinyl, CD, and even cassette if you want it. Also has AM/FM to go real old school.

Nice feature set and quality for the price. Be aware it is limited to MM (moving magnet) phono cartridges, which is pretty common at this price point. Most hardcore turntable fans will spend a lot more for their amps, anyway. It's not hard to spend $700 on a mid-level moving coil (MC) cartridge, alone!

I wish I had $700 burning a hole in my pocket, as I'd really like to try this amp out!

Yamaha R-N800A vs. Onkyo TX8470?

Similar features and power but they have different amplifier topologies. The Yamaha is Class AB, and the Onyko is Class G. AB is generally warmer and a more "traditional" sound. The Class G is a "thinner", more "digital", sounding topology, but has higher efficiency and output for the same number of electrical watts. I think I would order both and return the one I didn't like.
