Sometimes, you can't add AppleCare because the device has been sitting in Amazon's facilities for months.

Can't you message Apple and have them either adjust the purchase date or manually apply Apple care for like new/very good condition open box purchases?

I got 3 airs from them last week in the 'like new' condition
Machine 1: As new as new gets, brown box sealed, Apple pull tabs untouched, tissue paper still perfectly in place
Machine 2: Box opened, charging cord unwrapped, and laptop placed inside a clean plastic bag instead of the Apple tissue paper. Machine was spotless though and was only at 3-4 charge cycles
Machine 3: Box opened, slapped with Amazon Resale inspected stickers. Charging cable unwrapped, OS updated to iOS26, machine in plastic bag instead of tissue paper, and finger prints on machine so obviously used. Charge cycles only at 4 though so use was very minimal.
