NOTE: "Sous Vide Style" is not exactly the same as "sous vide" (as I understand and use the term).

I was all excited when I saw this item, because I was thinking that it could also be used to make flan, or even a small steak or salmon fillet, as in the traditional sous vide method.

But no. It lacks the precise temperature control that is the hallmark of sous-vide cooking. No water bath either, which would help prevent the eggs from overcooking, or cooking unevenly.

I suspect what the marketing department at Dash was trying to get at is that the egg bites this item can make should be similar in style to ones made via sous-vide. Perhaps that's true. But since it's basically silicone cups sitting on a griddle/heating plate, I rather doubt it. 🤣
