Sold & shipped by Amazon. This is actually not bad for 1 TB given the current state of economy high tariffs & inflation.

The 16" versions are heavy like your cuz, so keep them at home & take the lighter sister 14"

Excellent deal, more than enough computer for just about anything. Including picture or video editing etc. I have had this for more than 2 years

Is there a difference between the M1 chip in an air vs this M1 Max?

$1K for a used 5-year old computer is not a good deal.

Better GPU. If you do AI work or heavy graphics and video editing, else it's a waste.

This is overkill for most people. If you need a mac, newer generation m4 is a better option for you unless you need more RAM, storage and a better GPU

I had bought both the 14 and 16 inch, returned the 14. The bigger screen and better audio is worth it

No? It'll do most of what anyone wants, and is 1/3 the price of a new one. I might agree with you if we're talking about a 5 year old shitbox Dell, but a MacBook Pro M1 Max nicely equipped for $1K is a good deal. A 2020 model year used car for 1/3 the original price is also a good deal, yes?

Just to provide a data point. Intel 258v performs similar to m1 max/pro CPU wise, also easily come with 1tb. and there are deals floating around $600.
On Mac side, there were m4 MacBook air at maybe $700 from amazon a week ago, though only with 24gb ram and 512gb storage.

I'm sure you know but a MBA is missing quite a few features that a MBP has like more ports, better sound, better thermals and a better screen. I've probably forgotten a dozen other things. Comparing a Mac to a Windows PC is Apples to Oranges (pun intended). I'll be the first to agree they're overpriced for the feature set, but it's still a Mac and not an Windows PC.

Better off going for one of the 1349 14 inch macbook pros. It's more money but you're buying something 3 years already out of date (not obsolete, out of date).

I ordered one and I was unimpressed. Ended up getting one with a worn keyboard, 361 cycles on the battery, and 84% battery health. Came in a generic box.

Also came with a non-MagSafe USB C to C cable and an off brand 96w adapter that looked like an Apple charger.

There was also evidence that the MacBook was dropped at some point, but anyways.

Technically, almost everything was as-advertised, so I can't fault Amazon. The only major problem I had was the 96w brick.

"All Amazon Renewed purchases will come with accessories equivalent to those that shipped in the box when new." — M1 Max MBPs in a 16" size all included 140w bricks, not 96w.

Shipped and sold by Amazon.

Once again, I knew the risks and honestly this is YMMV. I just ended up buying a new machine.

Look at the memory price now, getting an old m1 with large memory (especially 64GB version) is not a bad idea.
