To scale, the woman in the product photo would be about 4'4" tall.
I think they do this to make the pad look much bigger. Most of these walking pads are way too narrow, short, at least for my needs. Too easy to trip up when your mind starts focusing on something else. I've yet to find one that is sufficiently oversize to not have to worry about it - like 22" or wider.
