Sony has a video showing some of the consultants they used to design the controller; and how they customized the Access Controller for their own use.

The Access controller, which features only one built in stick that can be configured as either left or right, offers three options for dual stick gameplay.

For games requiring only intermittent use of the second stick, users can quickly switch between left stick and right stick modes by setting up two different profiles and pressing the Profile button.
The controller includes four expansion ports for attaching external accessories like buttons and third party sticks which they may already own.
Or, as you mentioned, you can combine multiple controllers simultaneously, such as an Access controller with a standard DualSense, two Access controllers, or even two Access controllers and a DualSense, all functioning as a single controller in game.

Looks like it's sold out but that's a good reminder.

It does work on PC. It can be connected by USB or Bluetooth. You can ask for help on this sub-reddit. --> https://www.reddit.com/r/disabled...t/nqm8xt8/

I'm blessed enough to never have to worry about these things but it's hard to fathom how these controllers are easier to use for people with disabilities. Much love to the manufacturers who consider people who want to play, but can't with regular controllers.

I got one to support sony in their efforts. We as a society should aim to make things more inclusive in my opinion. Hopefully if more people support this tech, it may help to insure that it's not abandoned in the future.

There's videos of disabled people using it on YouTube. From my understanding, since it only has 1 analog stick, you either need to use a regular controller along with it, or get an attachment analog stick which is just as pricey if not more, or buy 2 of these controllers.

I don't understand why they didn't include 2 sticks when most games on the market today require that, especially 3D games.

So I agree, this idea still needs better execution but this was a good step.

Lego Horizon Adventures is "free" on PS+ next month. So maybe hold off on that if you have an active subscription.

Has anyone used onen of these with a PC? It seems like it's possible, but may be a pain and require 3rd-party software...

a lot of these disability controllers are designed to be also used in tandem with other controllers. the xbox adaptive one i believe allows you to actually plug in a multitude of other controllers, even non-controllers (i.e. like a drum pedal) iirc. this sony one in particular can be used with a regular dualsense controller and it also has 4 expansions through the 3.5 mm i believe. the name of the game is options, towards greater accessibility and this is a solid one.

I got one for my father that lost use of his dominant hand. Its excellent and for his use case and the games he plays. You can do this plus a joystick on the floor for the other stick, and after some practice he's back to beating me regularly in sports games. I love that you can swap so easily between premaps and do everything in the PS5 software, too.
