if the thief formated your pc can you still locate it somehow via their locate pc service?

Nope. Stuff like that only works if the device MFG puts that into their system and sets it so that the OS will check for that. Like Apple and Samsung have that because they control the hardware and the OS of their devices

After buying the code, I get the following error when trying to apply it. My renewal date is in 2027
"Prepaid Codes can only be selected as the payment method within 30 days of expiration of your current subscription term."

The gift code do not expire, ie. save it and use it to renew your service in 2027. Is a pain I know, but from that link it sounded that you would be able to redeem it as long as you have your account setup to yearly billing. Those two last bullets shown below. I was able to buy 2 codes and stack them. My account was on a monthly plan and I changed it to Yearly. Then applied the first code which set the account next billing to December 2026. Then applied the 2nd code which set me up to December 2027.

It's unlimited, the only caveat is that the files have to remain on the drive and sync at least once a month iirc.

It's a mirroring service vs standalone or longer term backup.

Good service. I've had it for about 5 years now. I've had to use it once and it worked well restoring lost files.

I now use Windows Storage Spaces for my storage array that has all my important photos/videos. I then back up this entire device to Backblaze.

Well, this merely saves you fifty bucks if you're on the two-year (e.g., the most cost-effective) plan, but since it forces you to downgrade to the worse price tier, and then forces you to twice (one full year apart) apply a carefully saved gift code for $25 savings each year, this is a bad idea.

I was already on one year plan with renewal in october 2026. I can't apply the gift card. It says I can only apply within 30 days of renewal. Ugh. Very annoying.

They changed that, now the 1 year plan which this prepaid is for already includes 1 year of versioning history, ie you don't have to sync every 30 days. You still get a warning but they don't delete the data.

Is there a link to info about the gift code? Like how do people know if it expires or not? How would I know if I can use it in 2 years, etc.? Couldn't find the fine print.
