Taxes for me is $46.25 .. it might be worth buying $600 GCs instead of $500.
Logic:
$500 GC but then you pay $46.25 in cash.

Alternate:
$600 GC then you have leftover balance of $53.75

Difference:
You paid $80 in cash instead of $46.25 but that extra $33.75 got you $53.75 in balance.

That may be great deal for a lot of people.

Here's a couple of "hacks" to save some additional money when using Nintendo GCs for eShop games.

1. While in the eShop, click on your profile settings and change your billing zip code to a state with no sales tax. I just use a random zip code from Montana. Nintendo only goes off of that zip code when you use your available eShop balance to purchase games.

2. Nintendo game vouchers can still be purchased until the end of January and can be used on some new releases like Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends Z-A.

For example, the Switch 2 version of Metroid Prime 4 is normally $69.99. However, by using this Costco GC deal, you could get a two-pack of game vouchers on the eShop for basically $80. You can redeem one of those vouchers for the Switch 1 version of Metroid Prime, meaning you're getting the base game for $40. Then you can buy the upgrade pack separately for $9.99. So you'd have the Switch 2 version of Metroid Prime for $49.99, a savings of $20.

You can also use vouchers in a similar manner for good savings on older titles with Switch 2 versions. For example, the Switch 2 version of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is normally $79.99. However, using this Costco GC deal, you can use a a voucher to get the base version of the game for $40, and then buy the the upgrade pack separately for $9.99, for a total of $49.99 and a $30 savings.

Does anyone know if eShop cards can actually be spent on My Nintendo store hardware? From what I'm reading Nintendo doesn't treat their gift cards like Apple, Xbox, etc where it can be spent on anything. It reads like eShop gift cards can only be put towards downloadable software. Would like to be wrong about that but putting that out there as a warning for people.
Like myself and others have written yes eshop funds can be spent on hardware. Take a look on your own before posting misleading info based on what you've read. I'd share a receipt here if I could.

Same. I didn't call but spoke to CS Agent on Chat. They said to "wait 24 hours for processing due to the holiday season" Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Hold up, this is a slick exercise. But I'm asking myself, 'do I really need it?' I barely play on my Switch 1 OLED cause I play my Steam Deck OLED. I haven't finished a single game out of the 50+ Switch titles I bought over the years. Switch 2 might come out with an OLED model later. Games are $70 full price on it and I only get games on sale. What else am I missing?
$70 games is why I'm sitting out switch 2 until I can get it for $250 ish

From everything I found, Nintendo eshop gift cards can't be used to purchase hardware. Can someone confirm they successfully used this deal/method on a switch 2?

Got codes instantly. Anyone else having trouble adding to their Nintendo account?
My account added all codes easily but then when I went back in to make my purchase it was missing one of the $50 credits? And now the 'add funds' page doesn't work. Wonder if the website is getting slammed.

Ordered gcs 12:30pm EST, received codes within 10 minutes; created my nintendo account and added switch to my cart during that wait, codes come in one long list that you can click on to automatically apply to your account. Switch order placed 12:45pm PST, instant confirmation email.

I did the $600 worth of GCs so I have about $50 worth of GC left over. This is our first switch, have a 7 year old and a (still too young to play) 2 year old. 7yo is still just learning how to use controls. Wife is terrible with controllers.

What might people recommend we spend the rest of the balance on?
If recommending a game, looking for a fun, colorful, very easy to play, preferably as a family. Doesn't need to be the latest and greatest game.
If hardware, let me know what would be most bang for our buck.

You can check firsthand by going into your account adding a switch going to check out and seeing your Nintendo account balance and then you can see that you can add Nintendo E shop gift card as an addition to your balance. You can also see that multiple people have bought them doing this before and it's policy to allow it now up to $800.

if one has paypal 20% unused, is it same deal I suppose, less hassle?
But if you are an executive member with citi card you loose the 2%+ 2% costco + citi cashback.

I did the PayPal deal. Works out to the same. Except Costco offers 2 yr warranty instead of usual 1 yr warranty and has extended returns.
