This exact drive comes with one year extra warranty for $270 at WD directly (2 years + 1 year extra if purchased at WD). A popular cashback site also has 5% cashback at Western Digital. For me, that helps knock out the sales tax a bit. Free shipping at WD also.

How long are the USB cables for these? Asking because I keep my storage about six feet away from my PC, which is on my desk. I keep the storage on top of a cabinet a few feet away from that, just to keep them against the wall and kind of out sight and out of mind.

Or can we just buy a longer cable?
