This Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3x is a strong budget Windows on ARM laptop for everyday use, especially web browsing, email, Word, streaming, and other normal tasks. The Snapdragon X chip gets praised for staying cool, quiet, and efficient, with solid battery life, a touch screen, backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, Wi Fi 7, and USB C charging alongside the included 65W barrel charger. The main caution is compatibility, since some legacy apps, printer drivers, games, and creator or business workflows may need ARM native versions or may not work well. It feels like a capable low cost pick if your software is already ARM friendly.

  • people who want a Windows laptop mainly for email, web surfing, and Microsoft Word because commenters say it's about perfect for those basic daily tasks and they're getting speedy, light performance with good battery life and low heat.

  • buyers who are willing to stick to Microsoft-first apps on Windows on ARM because community members note Snapdragon has inherent compatibility limitations versus Intel/AMD and recommend using mostly Microsoft apps for best compatibility.

  • people looking for a Chromebook-like replacement for couch browsing and video watching because commenters describe it as a good fit for casual browsing/streaming and say it's not running hot with excellent battery life.

  • users who plan to stream games (not install them locally) because one commenter clarifies they meant to stream from Steam and another says Snapdragon laptops are likely to be fine for streaming setups if you've had success before.

  • tax filers who specifically need TurboTax on a Windows ARM laptop because one commenter reports TurboTax Desktop Deluxe 2024 and TurboTax Business 2024 installed fine on a Snapdragon ARM Windows 11 system (with only minor compatibility-mode tweaking for TT 2023).

  • people who need to print via USB (especially with specific printers) because commenters report returning due to lack of ARM printer drivers, and another notes USB printer support is likely unreliable even if wireless printing can work via Mopria.

  • people who require legacy x86 software or x86-specific drivers because community members warn that ARM (Snapdragon) may not run legacy x86 software/drivers and advise avoiding ARM if you can't confirm your required software will work.

  • buyers who are counting on consistently fast USB-C charging for daily use because at least one commenter reports USB-C charging was "slow as hell" (later attributing it to an update), and others suggest it may only be practical overnight or with the right wattage.

  • buyers who want a dock-friendly laptop for lots of external displays because one commenter returned theirs, saying it's not dock-friendly due to only a single USB-C port and limited external display support (DisplayPort 1.2 / HDMI 1.4).

  • gamers who expect to install and run games locally because commenters warn not to buy these for gaming and say games won't run well on these Snapdragon laptops.

This is a good deal evil company. Try to Ed to get a price match so rhay they won't waste money on return shipping but they lie to me and give me the run around. I wind up purchasing anotyer computer at good price and then return the old one. They are so dumb and dishonest. Great deal but dishonest company that always lies and tries to screw you. Just have then continue to waste money on return shipping and make them suffer for being dishonest and always trying to fool customers.

Did a little research for you:

>Just downloaded TT desktop deluxe 2024 and TT business 2024.
>They both installed fine on MS surface pro 11 on snapdragon X 10 core processor running Windows Home 11 that i just bought this month.
>I do run it in "safe" compatability mode you can set on the properties tab when you right click the TT shortcut that gets created in the desktop.
>I don't know if you absolutely need to do that but I did have issues when testing on TT 2023 so kept it on.

Personally I've never had to tweak the compatibility settings for a legacy app, so that's interesting if it was actually needed.
This is a perfect example of an app that i require for my laptop. I don't want to need to cross my fingers with work arounds to install and use it. Like when it updates and loads states as you know TT does, and process your credit card or uploads it's results. I loved the snapdragon concept but I might as well use my chromebooks when I'm unsure if I spend these $300+ will easily work without trying to run virtual machines etc.

You have another laptop in this price range with 32GB RAM that you would like to share with the rest of us? If no, then why waste everybody's time?
Hmm ram is so expensive now, task manager shows no win shortages at 16gb using a cpu with built in gpu even. If you have some app that uses the extra well bless you, but it isn't a need for by far most people. Like 1TB and greater ssd.

Been a great laptop so far. Main use is GF working thru remote desktop. I will say, even with my fastest USB-C charger, it's slow as hell. I don't feel it's really practical to use that type of charging for anything but overnight. Otherwise, smokin' deal for $350 - thanks OP!

Edit: I'll revisit my comment about USB-C charging. It may have been processing an update in the background during my test.

Edit #2: Yeah it's slow but bearable. The update was affecting it. Screen brightness definitely affects the USB-C charging speed.

Any app you run on windows you should buy another windows machine, without snapdragon processor if you are unsure. Not a chromebook, linux or android or apple product. If you know those others will for sure run it, fine, but usually that info isn't easy to find without doing complicated procedures to run them. I use most of the other mentioned operating systems because they are less buggy and can use a lower spec cheaper pc. I still have windows because I want to run things like turbotax and some Steam gaming. Intel processor cpu offer the most universal compatibility. AMD is almost as good nowdays but sometimes their built in graphics card doesn't get the compatibility of Intel graphics. AMD is a great company and I own their stock but you are asking about compatibility. Others not so into computers might benefit from the info also.

Thanks for the update. Was a really good deal. This laptop should last for a long time. The benchmark is a lot higher for this processor compared to the AMD Ryzen in similar priced laptops

Issue. Received it on the 4th, powered it up on the 5th, shutdown the same day and left untouched for a week. This morning, powered it up and BSOD SrtTrail.txt loop.

I am struggling to understand - how is this a good deal compared to all other deals on SD? This is 16GB RAM, 300 nits screen, only 512GB SSD. Is that only because it's good cheap laptop for $350?
