I just got the credit and can confirm that it applies to products sold by Amazon, not digital content. The name "digital credit" is confusing. It should just be called a promotional credit. I was able to get $30 off of other items sold and shipped by Amazon.

PROS: More colors available- Costco has these in Black, Blue, White, and light Purple. Peace of Mind- You get super-easy returns and an extended warranty. Black and White are available in-store and online. Blue, lilac only available online.

CONS: Cost- $10 more at Costco, No $30 digital credit

Short answer YES. Music and more... digital credit works for music, Prime Video (movie rentals, buying 4K digital movies, etc), and Kindle books. It used to work on digital games, but that was a while ago. It's great if you are a student and your books are available on Kindle as you'll save money on books that you HAVE to buy. Digital credit isn't good for anything non-digital and all purchases are available essentially immediately.

I bought it from Amazon because I also get another 8% cash back for no rush delivery. So that's $13 plus $30 promotional credit "towards future purchases from Amazon " (mine didn't say only for digital purchases). Total of $43. So $117 only before tax. I bought the old version of this from Costco, trust me you won't need a warranty. Mine is still working 5 years after!
