I was strongly considering this drive based on positive tech reviewers impression of it. This is also an excellent price given the current state of things. However, I urge people to examine the user reviews on B&H and Amazon. Oddly high percentage of dead and failed drives met with claims of very poor support from Crucial. Backing up important/critical material on this drive starts to sound like a roll of the dice.

I expect poor customer service from all the drive manufacturers to be honest with you. I'd go with Crucial over brands like Patriot

If you choose to pay with Paypal pay-in-4 installments, you'll get points that amount to 20% cash back. You have to activate the reward on your paypal account first if it is even available for your account

Well, yes. The question is should one go with major brands like Samsung over Crucial (for a premium, typically), but it's more nuanced as the problems described seem particularly prevalent for this SKU.

The Crucial X10 Pro 4TB (@ $210 today) doubles speed (2100 vs 1050 MB/s), uses tougher TLC NAND, and adds pro build quality for just $10 more than the X9 ($200 today). Seems totally worth the extra, I'm a little confused why the X9 is more highly upvoted.

I own 2 2TB X9 Pros and now I'm clenching my butt cheeks after reading all the posts about sudden death on B&H / Amazon / Reddit.

Very fast and cool-running drive! (Same price as it was 2 years ago.)

Seeing these prices doubled over the past couple of days is painful.

Micron never did hard drives. You mean NAND/solid state?
