I have this tablet and love it. The glare is kind of strong at times but that's my only complaint

I just purchased the cheaper Tab Plus a couple of days ago, but ended up buying this today and will be returning the other. The CUP/GPU upgrades are worth the money, and they expand its capabilities beyond just the media player I was looking for.

The Lenovo Idea Tab Pro comes across as a fast midrange Android tablet that shines for indoor media, browsing, and pen use. The Dimensity 8300 chip, 8GB of RAM, and included Tab Pen Plus make it feel responsive, with better pen accuracy, stronger speakers, and a nicer screen than the cheaper Tab Plus. Video-out support and the large 12.7 inch 3K display add to its appeal. The main knocks are brightness and glare, plus Lenovo's limited Android update policy. A solid value pick if you want more than a basic media tablet.

Common Questions (5)

  • It is generally fine for indoor use, but glare can be noticeable and the screen is often described as closer to about 250-300 nits than the advertised 400 nits. For daytime viewing, many users keep brightness around two-thirds; low brightness can be a dealbreaker if you watch a lot of movies or YouTube in bright rooms.

  • For browsing, videos, and general non-power-user tasks, it is described as quick and responsive. The Dimensity 8300 and 8GB RAM are also viewed as a meaningful upgrade over the Tab Plus for heavier use.

  • Lenovo's policy limits this tablet to 2 major OS updates, with support expected through Android 16 rather than beyond it. Security updates are expected to continue until about 2028, so the hardware can stay useful even though long-term OS support is limited.

  • The Pro has a faster CPU/GPU, a heavier body, a nicer screen, slightly better speakers, and a more accurate pen. That extra performance is the main reason several buyers chose the Pro over the cheaper Tab Plus.

  • Yes, it can do video-out in both regular mode and PC mode. That feature is a key reason some buyers preferred it over Samsung tablets with DeX, and it also comes with a magnetic Bluetooth stylus plus an extra tip.

If your someone who primarily uses this indoors I don't think that should be a problem, the 400nits, considering the price point and also that it's not only cheaper than a comfortable Samsung S10 Tab Fan Edition but it's also faster.

I think the deal downside for people is the limited years of updates this device will get. That said, for this price point and for the size I think this is an excellent mid-range tablet.

Was going for the pro version since has the bigger screen and faster processor but now debating between the pro for $247 or the 12.1" plus for $172. Any advice?

Really thinking about pulling trigger on this. Anything comparable at the price point?
Edit: With 15% cashback too from Lenovo, decided I had to go for it.

Many comments like this in the Plus threads and the specs bear it out. Pay a little more, get a lot more. (Both of those are subjective lol.)

So not sure why so little love for this deal today. Snagged one for the FIL at $234 pretax, don't think he'll want an exchange. Of course, I might have to debloat and preconfigure for him so the truth will be known.

I also cancelled the PLUS. $212 PLUS shipped with pen & folio, this was $236 for the Pro & pen, and with a more powerful CPU which seems to matter the most in these. Def worth it.
