This ACEMAGIC mini PC stands out as a compact 8745HS system with 32GB DDR5, a 1TB PCIe 4 SSD, and enough speed for daily use, media, and light gaming. The price is described as strong for this CPU and memory combo, especially versus other recent 8745HS and 8845HS deals. USB4 is confirmed on the USB C port, which helps offset the lack of Oculink. The main caution is ACEMAGIC's past malware controversy, so a fresh Windows reinstall is the safest setup. Small form factor limits still apply, especially for heavier gaming and cooling.

Common Questions (4)

  • For this BF window, it was described as the lowest seen for the 8745HS/8845HS/H255 class, with similar systems often staying above $400. The tradeoff is that comparable deals have appeared lower before, and some buyers point to missing USB4/Oculink or older refurbished options as better values.

  • Older ACEMAGIC mini PCs manufactured before November 2023 were reported with pre-installed malware in Windows files and the recovery partition, so a factory reset may not remove it. A fresh Windows reinstall from Microsoft media is the safest way to start clean, and newer shipments are claimed to have the issue resolved.

  • The seller-confirmed spec is USB4 Type-C with up to 40Gbps, DP 1.4, and 8K@60Hz or 4K@120Hz output. The unit also includes two front USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports at 10Gbps and four rear USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports at 5Gbps.

  • The RAM is not soldered and can be replaced or upgraded. Mini PCs are easy to open, but the components are very cheap, so the RAM and M.2 SSD need to be seated carefully to avoid errors.

Good deal. Wish we can find a deal on a 890m version
I bet they will after Intel's panther lake comes out with its 12xe core IGPU. If you want to be cheap sometimes you gotta wait.

Is this the one that has a lot of malware? I see some businesses have this one. But not sure if it's risky.
Yes. I would not trust it. I'd be willing to bet that the folks who downvoted you comment also think nothing of scanning any random QR code at a restaurant/bar, wherever. Security and reputation matter.

They had an issue 2 years ago - ask google AI - they acknowledged and fixed the issue i believe. That said I just learned that Amazon was tracking my Apple Watch activation with Apple without my knowledge.

Here is AI output
"ACEMAGIC mini PCs manufactured before November 2023 were found to have pre-installed malware that posed severe privacy risks. The company has acknowledged the issue and claims it has been resolved in newer shipments.
The Privacy Concerns
In early 2024, reports from reviewers and customers revealed that several ACEMAGIC mini PC models (including the S1, AD08, and AD15) were shipped with factory-installed malware. This was found within the Windows operating system installation files and the system recovery partition, meaning a factory reset would not remove it.
The specific malware families identified were Bladabindi (a backdoor trojan) and Redline Stealer (an info-stealer). These types of malware are designed to:
Steal credentials, usernames, and passwords from browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Opera).
Copy cryptocurrency wallet information.
Log keystrokes.
Capture screenshots and record video via the camera.
Connect to remote servers to download and run more files.
ACEMAGIC stated that the issue stemmed from developers making adjustments to the Microsoft source code to reduce boot times without obtaining proper digital signatures, which led to security software flagging the files as viruses.
Was It Resolved?
ACEMAGIC has stated the issue was contained to a "first shipment" of products and claims to have implemented corrective measures.
Timeline of Resolution: The company asserts that all files have been digitally signed and the issue resolved since November 28, 2023.
Customer Verification: Customers can check the production date on the bottom sticker of their device.
Company Actions: ACEMAGIC offered full refunds, return shipping costs, or partial compensation (up to 25% of the price) for affected units.
Expert Recommendation: Despite the company's claims, many security experts and tech reviewers still highly recommend performing a clean reinstallation of the Windows operating system using installation media directly from Microsoft, regardless of the brand, to ensure all hidden malware is completely removed from the system and recovery partition. "

I will be running proxmox anyway.
"company claims.." is the part I have issue with. If they were legit, they would have it independtly verified by a legit third party. If you trust the claims of a company that allowed malware to be installed in the first place, saying "everything OK now", you're very naive.

No... the only known manufacturer who is selling their devices with SPYWARE installed into the OS so it can NEVER BE DELETED is SAMSUNG.

They got PAID MILLION AND MILLION AND MILLIONS so some third party can have total access to your device and install what hey want when they want and you can't do shit about it.

This is a new story... about two weeks old.

Really...

The story is they hired a 3rd party to isntall the software... this company was the one who installed the spyware.... blah blah blah....

The SPYWARE was detected IMEDIATELY by Windows if you did a scan. And was DELETED in it's entirety if you allowed Windows to do so. It was not hidden or part of the bios or anything like that.

SAMSUNG is the only company today that has gotten paid MILLIONS and MILLIONs of dollars by a third party to install SPYWARE that is par of the OS and CAN NEVER be deleted.

so BACK to their story... was installed by a third party they hired... once it was known, they fired that company and an new company is doing the software installs. THEY NEVER GOT PAID MILLIONS AND MILLIONS AND MILLIONS like SAMSUNG and LENOVO.

Lenovo got CAUGHT back in 2018 for installed SPYWAR on their tablets... they got PAID MILLIONS form a third party to do this.

SO right now I don't trust Lenovo or Samsung. Acemagic NEVER GOT PAID, and claimed they NEVER KNEW.

I KNOW I KNOW... YOU THINK ACEMAGIC IS FULL OF SHIT AND SAMSUNG AND LENOVO ARE YOUR HEROS.

You know that AMD already has the next gen out...

the most powerful integrated graphics solution is the AMD Radeon 8060S iGPU, which is featured in the top-tier AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 mobile processor.

šŸš€ Key Details of the Top-Tier iGPU
The Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (formerly codenamed "Strix Halo") is designed to blur the line between integrated and discrete graphics performance.

Integrated GPU: AMD Radeon 8060S Graphics

Architecture: The iGPU is built on the latest RDNA 3.5 architecture.

Compute Units (CUs): It features up to 40 Compute Units. (For comparison, previous high-end iGPUs like the Radeon 780M only had 12 CUs).

Performance Class: This level of performance is highly significant, as it is claimed to rival or exceed the performance of a mid-range discrete laptop GPU, such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 in some gaming and synthetic benchmarks.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO TELL ME... INTEL's IS BETTER?

The USB ports info is conflicting.

The seller did confirm the following for me USB-C: The USB-C port is USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A (10Gbps), and the system also includes USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports (4 ports at 5Gbps). USB Ports: For the USB 3.2 ports, we have 2 x Gen2 (10Gbps, front) and 4 x Gen1 (5Gbps, rear) ports. That said for S3A model in 2025 usb-c has been a usb4 so won't know for sure till I get it. This listing seems to be more accurate to what the seller communicated to me vs conflicting info in listing

https://ebay.us/m/KIAUfq

For this price and 32GB ram and 1TB PCIe 4 NVME SSD, and all the other features, at this time, although I agree not having usb4 and oculink is a bummer I have to take it.

I don't have an immediate use case for usb4 and oculink but hopefully this gets me to time when ssd and ram prices r more reasonable and then u upgrade
Its good specs for a normal pc and can do a bit of gaming, but I think of these high end mini pcs, that don't have USB4 or Oculink, like a powerful Truck that doesn't have a bed or a tow package. It's fine to drive around town, but not much else. 🤷 ā™‚ļøšŸ¤£
