This Anker 250W GaN Prime charging station is best as a dense, all in one desktop hub for phones, tablets, laptops, and other USB C gear. It can push up to 140 watts to a power bank, around 80 watts to a Mac, and the phone stays cool while charging. The app adds useful graphs and manual port control, and the screen and dial make it feel like a serious charging brick. The main caveat is that connected devices can briefly renegotiate power when a laptop or other high draw device is added, and some QC 2 and 3 gear may need different cables. It suits a shared charging spot if you want lots of ports in one heavy unit.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes, a brief disconnect can happen when another device is added because the charger renegotiates power across shared ports. This is usually a split-second interruption and is most noticeable with higher-draw devices; smaller loads like an iPhone or iPad are less likely to be affected.

  • It can charge a full Apple setup, including MacBooks, iPads, iPhones, AirPods, and MagSafe accessories. One reported caveat is that some Amazon 1-star reviews mention weak power delivery to Apple peripherals, and another report says a MacBook only reached about 80W until a firmware update fixed earlier 60W charging behavior.

  • It can reach 140W when charging a power bank, and one report says a Mac tops out around 80W. It also supports fast charging for phones and can keep a phone cool while charging.

  • It can get hot enough that nothing should be placed on top of it, so it needs room to breathe. One setup also used its scheduling and auto-off features while all ports were occupied, including a MacBook.

  • Yes, both coupon codes can be applied after removing and re-adding the Anker code. The checkout initially showed a one-code-only restriction, but the workaround made both discounts stick.

It gets hot, so I don't set anything on top of this device, and I give it room to breathe. I have seen my electricity bill go down using this device. I set it to go off when I leave and when I sleep. All its ports are being used (including a MacBook). This replaced a surge protector I had in its place previously. I don't like how there are hidden features that won't reveal themselves unless you fully utilize the device and explore everything

Could you please point me to a guide to utilise all these features?

Thanks for point out this. When they share a rail, each of the connected ports renegotiate protocol and power draw. On one hand, it makes for an adaptable charger. On the other hand, I don't like the idea of power fluctuations each time a device is connected or disconnected.

I looked at the SlimQ 150W--found two versions--one with four USB-C and one with three USB-C and one USB-A. Both chargers that have ports that provide an "up to" output range. Doesn't that mean that there is also dynamic negotiation going on based on device plug-in and unplug?

As an aside, I see so many generic chargers that claim 500, 800, even 1000W. Out of morbid curiosity, I got a few to try, none even come close to what they claim.
The 4-port USB C is new for SlimQ. I have the 3 C, 1 A version. Either way, both behave the same. SlimQ even advertises it in the features:

"Reset-Free Power Distribution"

I've never seen any of my devices renegotiate the connection using the SlimQ like I do with the Anker 250W. I'm not mad at Anker because the way it behaves is very standard practice. I just love that SlimQ went above and beyond.

FYI, the 4x USB C doesn't come with the travel kit, but the 4x USB C 1x A does.

Sorry, no clue. Either watch YouTubers try to do it or call Anker directly
