Quote from your link : After using the the 1TB model for 24 hours and switching back to the base model, the differences in using the higher spec version feel marginal in day-to-day use, and are not substantial enough to me to warrant spending the extra 600, so the 1TB model was returned

if you can afford it, spend the extra $400 for the 16GB ram and I think an extra core GPU as well.
1TB is the one I want to get eventually(in a few years when it gets cheap)
I think the best deal is base m4. If you "need" more then get a base m5 for $300 more since it comes with 12gb ram and numerous other bumps. Only caveat to this reason is if you need nano texture. Then obviously $1400 is a great price

I think the storage speed on the 512 is faster than 256 but I haven't seen anyone did any tests on them. 512 for an extra $100 is an awesome deal nonetheless
My sister boug the 1TB wifi only model earlier in costco's sale period, since the 512gb for 1100 was sold out and she justified the price for the storage more than the RAM (she uses it for work, mostly illustrations). This wifi+cell 512gb model for for just 999 is a great deal, cheaper than when she got the 3rd gen 512 from Costco for around 1150 back in 2019. I told her to order it right away, the 1TB will be returned without even being opened. Thank you, OP.

Insane deal! 256gb was tempting at $899 but $100 more for double and potentially faster storage is a must. I was anti 13inch with the previous iPad Pro, but this new gen is so thin and light that it's the only choice for me. I want as much of that oled screen as possible.
Thank you!

Sure, you could pay more than that for a phone every two years. How about buying the tablet and heck the 83" LG OLED G5....the best of both worlds. Actually, I purchased the tablet as a Christmas present for my wife. I prefer the Samsung Tab S11 Ultra for an even bigger tablet. They are all on sale, so still a slick deal for those looking
There are numerous posts about Macbook Pro from the past few generations that are around this price. Surely the performance on those eclipses this? It even includes a keyboard!
What is the value proposition of a tablet that's more expensive than those M2,M3 Macbooks?

Aren't these not OLED?
Edit: Apparently "Ultra Retina XDR" does indeed imply OLED.
Damn, now I'm intrigued… haha

I was just about to point that out... at nowhere in the majority of the post did there say anything about "huge" performance gains... that I read anyway. He must work for apple xD
