Honestly the price the bundle should have launched for. I've owned it since launch and have played MKW a handful of times since then. It just doesn't have the same high speed feel of MK8 due to the wide tracks. It also doesn't seem to matter who you pick or even your skills as the outcome of each race is somewhat random.

Don't get me wrong, it's fun for sure, but I wouldn't have bought it at $50 let alone the $70 they're asking for MKW à la carte.

The Switch 2 bundle is being treated as a solid entry point for Nintendo's new console, especially because it includes Mario Kart World and the 256GB system for about the same price as the console alone elsewhere. The hardware gets praise for a sharper screen, stronger performance, faster loading, and support for games like Cyberpunk 2077, while the bundle is also seen as more accessible than store specific alternatives. The main knocks are the price, modest battery life, storage limits, and the fact that Mario Kart World feels less fast than Mario Kart 8 and can play a bit random. It is a practical way to jump in if you want the exclusive game now.

Target shoppers who can stack Target Circle rewards and a RedCard because one commenter said Switch 2 + Donkey Kong Bananza with 5% RedCard came out to $494 pretax after stacking a $50 reward, and the thread repeatedly notes the extra RedCard discount on the bundle.
SociableWren1282 Csublime estacionsj
Switch 2 shoppers who specifically want Mario Kart World right away because the bundle effectively makes you "get Mario Kart for free" versus buying the game separately, and commenters call the $450 price the best Switch 2 deal they've seen.
DarthCY trip1eX
People who already have a $500 Target gift card (or can get one at a discount) because commenters say it can add an extra 10% off, making the deal especially strong compared with the base price.
Dreamliner330 DJRobNM
Switch 2 buyers who are okay with Nintendo's digital download bundle because commenters describe Nintendo customer support as great and say the odds you'll need an exchange are near zero.
trip1eX make_moneys
Parents buying for kids who want Mario Kart World because one commenter preferred this $450 bundle over a cheaper console-only option since their kids want Mario Kart World included.

Switch 2 shoppers who are only buying for a big hardware leap right now because commenters say the value depends on future games and that Switch 1 owners may be happy to wait, especially since trade-in for Switch 1 is reportedly only around $80.
jhyde77 Csublime
Mario Kart fans who care about the "high speed" feel of MK8 because one owner says Mario Kart World's wide tracks make it feel less fast and that race outcomes can feel somewhat random, so they wouldn't pay $70 for it à la carte.
Slick_Drone
Switch 2 buyers who are trying to minimize risk around returns/exchanges if they use gift-card workarounds because one commenter says buying gift cards to then buy the console is much harder to return/exchange with Nintendo and can leave you stuck with gift cards instead of a refund.
make_moneys
People who don't live near a Micro Center or can't do in-store deals because commenters note the Micro Center console-only price is only available at select locations and in-store, while this bundle is the more accessible option.
Than23
Buyers who are expecting a broadly discounted "best deal" compared to prior promos because one commenter says the best prior deal was last month at about 20% off using discounted eShop cards, implying this $450 bundle is more of a decent option than the top historical price.
shaddai

The bundle can effectively reduce the cost by treating Mario Kart World as included value.
DarthCY Dreamliner330 Sventroy
Target pricing can drop further with RedCard savings and stacked Target Circle rewards.
Csublime SociableWren1282 estacionsj
Mario Kart World can be a Switch 2 exclusive reason to upgrade now.
someoneslick Slick_Drone
Donkey Kong Bonanza can add another Switch 2 exclusive incentive alongside Mario Kart World.
shaddai DInozero
Switch 2 performance and loading can feel smoother than older hardware for demanding games.
Harmonica

Mario Kart World pricing can be high enough that the bundle may feel overpriced without discounting.
Aji3 Slick_Drone
Switch 2 value can depend heavily on future game releases because the library is still limited early in the lifespan.
Csublime jhyde77
Mario Kart World can feel less fast than Mario Kart 8 due to wider tracks and race outcomes can feel random.
Slick_Drone
Nintendo gift-card based purchase paths can be harder to return or exchange and may leave you stuck with gift cards.
make_moneys
The $450 deal may require adding the item to cart to see the discounted price.

Common Questions (5)

It is described as a solid technical upgrade with a better screen, faster loading, and stronger performance in games like Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Sky. The main caveats are cost, battery life, and storage/game-key-card concerns, and the value depends heavily on future exclusives.
Csublime jhyde77 schlack Harmonica
Yes. A $500 Target gift card bought at 10% off can beat the RedCard discount, and stacking a 5% cashback card on the gift-card purchase can push the effective savings to about 14.5%.
Dreamliner330 Sventroy Dreamliner330
Target lists the bundle at $449.99 with free shipping or store pickup. A Target RedCard takes an extra 5% off, bringing it to $427.49 before tax.
Csublime estacionsj
Mario Kart World is fun, but it is described as less fast-paced than MK8 because of the wider tracks and somewhat random race outcomes. At $70 standalone, it is considered poor value, which makes the bundle more appealing than buying the game separately.
Slick_Drone Aji3
Yes. The bundle includes the 256GB Switch 2 console, Joy-Con 2 controllers, and a Mario Kart World full game digital download.

That went quick, I put it in my cart, then tried to check out and said no longer available. (At Amazon, not Target)

I'm in for one. Same deal that BestBuy and Walmart were running yesterday, but the Amazon Card gives that extra 7% off when you select "No Rush" Shipping.

I was just at Walmart and Target today around 5PM. Both stores had cases stacked with Switch 2 consoles even after Black Friday and now Cyber Monday deals. Even Gamestop had plenty in store. Demand has really dropped off for the Switch Plus apparently.

Meh. I mean I'm glad we're getting SOMETHING, but I personally won't be biting until $399 or less. Which I don't doubt will happen sooner rather than later, as demand for this thing has PLUMMETED recently...

Buy Nintendo GCs from Costco ($500 GCs for $400 ($388 if you use 3% cc)).

Use GCs for this at Nintendo.com. Done.

Target followed the Walmart deal. Switch 2 with Mario Kart World for $449.99.

With a redcard you get additional 5% off bringing it down to $427.49
