Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.
That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

T-mobile fiber has their 10-year $70 for 2000/2000 (overkill for most people), but they don't offer a $40 for 300/300 in all areas and their 500/500 (or 1000/1000 current offer for 500/500 price) is $55 only if you have a Tmo cell phone.
Here's an example from an Xfinity fiber area:

You aren't losing any control if you put the modem in bridge mode and turn off the public wifi. You can do everything you wanted to do with that setup like you could with your own modem. If its your preference that is fine, but the control is the same, other than you have to return the modem at some point. Not sure if you know this but using your own modem, comcast controls the firmware that gets used on it, if you don't believe me then google it.
Their upload speeds are currently maxed at 100mbps for mid-split and if you're in the area according to their system, you should have the speeds. It's either on or off, no grey area. Most people need a compatible modem and/or a restart of the modem to get the updated speeds.
more proof of current plan: https://imgur.com/a/6XZlwnh
Here's someone that was offered 300mbps upload: https://forums.xfinity.
The current offered 2gig plan appears to be 250mbps, which is greater than 100mbps. (that's not ftth)
Yes there is a grey area, I lived it, you are incorrect. I've used their own compatible modems for years so its not a modem thing. I spent hours on the phone with them trying to figure it out until they realized it wasn't actually on.
If you read here from a comcast employee: https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_...ed-speeds/
at one point increased upload required xi fi complete, so it wasn't a simple on or off, it was certainly plan dependent at one time, this shows it was even feature dependent. You'll also noticed early on they couldn't even tell you if you could get it by zip code only by exact address. Again not a simple on/off in your area. You'll also notice this section:
That is what the earlier poster was probably referencing when you incorrectly told them that not using the comcast modem doesn't remove unlimited data (it probably doesn't work like that now since its not a bundled feature, I don't know for sure). With the xi fi complete feature, you had to use their modem or it would cause issues like removing unlimited data and it was more expensive to use your own modem if you wanted unlimited data. This is what people mean by charging to use your own modem because free if you use their modem but $30 if you use your own for unlimited data is certainly charging to use your own modem.
Don't believe me? Here it is from a comcast rep: https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_...unli
they specifically say xi fi complete (which comes with unlimited data) only works with comcast modem. So yes you can lose your unlimited data if you don't use their modem depending on your plan.
nevermind, ended up going through the whole process till the end and then signed in at the end and it worked
Coupled with the dummy bank account added to your Xfinity account, you can automate payments using bill pay through your actual checking account. You can find Xfinity on the list of vendors, confirm all the necessary details, and your bank will automatically send payments for you. I assume that would be safer than adding your real checking account to your Xfinity account... that's where I was coming from because I don't want to have to deal with Xfinity accidentally charging who knows what or having my bank account info wind up on the dark web because of a data breach.
New Unlimited mobile line must be purchased within 90 days. $25 one-time activation fee/line applies.
$25/mo charge applies if Xfinity TV, Voice or internet not maintained. After 1 year, taxes and fees, and other applicable charges extra, and subj. to change.
So you'll be forced to keep the line for the discount and after the first year, the mobile line will be extra. I think it's around $25 extra.

I was offered this exact deal 2 weeks ago when I called to cancel my service.
I had already moved to ATT Fiber, so this was of no use to me.
