It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Any hacks to get this for current subscriber?
Yes just go to website put your address and we'll tells you someone already has service there just choose I'm a new customer moving here and put your current email and password. When it asks you to cancel old account just say yes and set cancellation date. Should let you go through with it and just add a new account number to the account. If Xfinity calls you asking if you authorized the cancellation of your old account because you cannot have multiple accounts on the same address just say ok cancel old account.
I did this a few days ago and it worked great specially sense I was paying 45 for 600mbps n now I'm paying 50 plus a free modem .

Any ideas what the phone line will cost after 1 year? 1gbps + 2 phone lines for $70 a month is a no brainer upgrade from my current $50 for internet + $100 for two TMobile lines
Xfinity Mobile normal cost is $40 for 1 line and $20 for addl. line after a year.

I don't see a "Switch Account" button in the app. When I log onto my Xfinity account either in app or on website, I only see the old account. There is no option to view the new account (which has a different account number). However on the main webpage there is banner stating: "We're getting your order ready — simple and seamless WiFi is coming soon - Make sure to download the Xfinity app to set up your internet as soon as your order arrives."However, I chose to use my own device, so there isn't anything "arriving."
If you got mail that new account is linked to your id, then it must be there. See if this helps. Refer to steps in link below for Link account or Switch account https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...e-accounts

Let's go!! Got this to work after a few tries. Kept getting all the way to the end and on the final checkout got errors telling me to call customer service. Not sure if this is because I was trying to use my own equipment.

I now have two accounts with the new one pending activation, will try to get CS to swap my modem and cancel the old account. (If I don't get a call first like others have mentioned)

update - CS totally messed up trying to close one account and activate the other. I'm somewhere in-between one being active and the other on its way becoming active. it's confusing everyone on how I got two accounts on the same address. fingers crossed my internet eventually stops working and I can activate my existing modem on the new account pending activation.

In my case, I was able to see both 1-year and 5-year options when I clicked "shop now" link. But, as many have alluded to, these things may be specific to one's locality. An alternative way may be the following: go to https://www.xfinity.com/learn/internet-service. In the middle of the page, there are various options that you can choose (# of years, speed, Xfinity Mobile Plan, how many (mobile) lines, etc). At least that's what I'm seeing in Portland, OR. Hope this helps! Good luck!
Thank you, I was able to get installation waived off, hoping it actually does happen.

I'm trying to decide between 1 gig or 2 gig speeds. 1 is likely enough for now but 2 might be preferred a couple years down the line and I don't see them letting us upgrade for this cheap once the promo is over.
Really speaking even 1Gbps is more than sufficient for most people. For each device / person streaming you need max 25Mbps to work fine. The one place where the higher download speed will work is when you have a large download say you have software upgrade and it's something 2gigs then the higher download speed will help.

For me 300 Mbps would have been sufficient. But since 1Gbps is just $10 more I signed up for that. Hopefully I get higher upload speeds than what my account shows now ( 100Mbps ) I am waiting for the xfinity modem.

I'm a long time Comcast/Xfinity customer and am paying $123/month for 1300 Gbps service via coaxial. I'm also being charged $30/month for a land line and get "discounts" (Veteran, two product, paperless) of $22/mo. I am also being charged $15/mon for router.I know I'm being overcharged compared with other providers and rates I see advertised, however, I do not want to lose my longtime comcast email addresses (6 in family) if I switch my service to another provider or if I put my account in my wife's name. How does my monthly charges compare with others? What advice would you suggest for lowering my monthly rate (I'd prefer to keep the internet land line as my cell reception (Yes, Xfinity Mobile) is poor. Same as all other major carriers since I seem to live in a dead zone. I've tried them all via either friends' phones and/or trial Sim testing. RSRP is -123dB... (terrible). Thanks!
Are there any other options for internet available to change to when you Log into your account? That does seem high for an existing customer and most packages also do not charge for gateway rental anymore. Hopefully some of the existing customers that have got this deal can answer if they lost their Comcast email address.I would call CS, 800-934-6459, and ask for Retention/Loyalty department. Ask if they are US based, if not, ask for transfer or call back. My understanding is they are the only ones that can offer something else.

After browsing the offer earlier in the week, I received a CapitalOneShopping offer for $200 for new Internet. Went through that link and just ordered hoping it will stack with the GIFT100 as well. I was charged $39.99 for Self-install Plus, but I am going to need new inside & outside wiring so I don't know how much my install will be. I did get a flyer in the mail saying "Free installation and setup" so I will likely try to get all the install waived and if not, hopefully the incentives will cover it. I am currently on AT&T with 50MBS service max for my area with a continued "Fiber coming", but it never comes. Hopefully, I will have better luck with Xfinity than I did last time.

When I checked for availability for my in-laws, the soonest I could schedule installation was December 27th. Would I be able to get it set up sooner if I go into a store?

XFINITY, worst customer service, price gouging, scammy. I only have XFINITY because I don't have any other option in my area.
