This is not fiber internet! Same old coax. Very asymmetric connection with 1gbps down but only 40mbps up

Top Comments
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.
That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

This is the 3rd time I'm doing this "switcheroo". I first did it in January 2024, and again for my mother a month later, and now that my promo is ending next month I'm doing it again. I also just did my mother-in-law's service a few days ago.
Only that 1st time did I receive an automated email regarding cancelation. For my mother, I received it right after activating her new modem. But with these 2 new/recent orders, I received the cancelation request email on both 2 days after placing the order (today). Modems came today as well. I still haven't received a call from xfinity though. In the past orders, the accounts auto-canceled after activation of the new modems, but I did have to call in to swap my existing Mobile lines to my new Internet account. I'll have to do that again as I still have existing Mobile lines.
I am seeing $70 for 2G , not sure how you got for $50. could you please share
But don't be like me and make sure to add the gift100 promo gift card

99% of people won't really notice the difference
Still, a lot of people also overestimate how much bandwidth they need. My brother pays $90/month for 1 Gbps Fios and insists he needs it to have the most stable connection for his TVs and phones etc. but there's just no way. A 4K video stream is 25 Mbps, he'd have 3 of them at the absolute most, I'm positive he'd get the exact same performance on the 300Mbps plan. I'm on 300 and I have no complaints.
People don't understand that 1 gig is for large families with kids who invite a bunch of other kids over for gaming, with 4K movies playing on several screens, multiple security cameras on the house, dozens of smart devices around the house, and even then 1 gig is way more than enough.
