Community Reviews

A Minecraft Movie is available in 4K digital for $4.99 on Amazon and Apple TV, with a Bonus X Ray Edition also listed at the same price on Amazon. The purchase flow can be confusing because the price may reflect promotional credits, and the confirmation screen shows how much is covered after PIN entry. As a movie, it lands hardest with Minecraft focused kids and less well with viewers who are not familiar with the game. The Bonus X Ray Edition also appears to populate in Movies Anywhere right after purchase, making this a handy digital pickup if the credits math checks out.

Common Questions (5)

  • The purchase screen can show that the $4.99 price reflects promotional credits, and the confirmation screen shows the total due plus the portion covered by those credits. Checking in incognito versus your signed-in account can reveal whether a discount is being applied.

  • Yes, the Bonus X-Ray Edition is also available in UHD for the same $4.99 price on Amazon. It reportedly populates in Movies Anywhere immediately after purchase.

  • The Bonus X-Ray Edition reportedly appears in Movies Anywhere immediately after purchase. The standard listing was also noted as not being MA, so the MA status may depend on which version you buy.

  • It may not hold attention if you are not familiar with Minecraft, while Minecraft-focused kids tend to love it. One viewer who barely played the game fell asleep, but later noticed more references after playing the game more.

Depends. My son (8) loved it. My wife and daughter (10) hated it. I thought it was one of the worse Jack Black movies but watched it for my son.

It shoes up as "free" for me with the $19.99 crossed out, but says the price reflects my discounts and credits, etc. I have no idea if it's applying a credit and discounts of $4.99 or $19.99. There's only an option to buy it with a click and no cart or anything to see this. I do know if I open it in incognito that it shows $4.99, but the comments above where people are not seeing that price has me second guessing Amazon.
