Community Reviews

A Minecraft Movie is available in 4K digital for $4.99 on Amazon and Apple TV, with a Bonus X Ray Edition also listed at the same price on Amazon. The purchase flow can be confusing because the price may reflect promotional credits, and the confirmation screen shows how much is covered after PIN entry. As a movie, it lands hardest with Minecraft focused kids and less well with viewers who are not familiar with the game. The Bonus X Ray Edition also appears to populate in Movies Anywhere right after purchase, making this a handy digital pickup if the credits math checks out.

People who already have Amazon promotional credits and want to use them toward a $4.99 digital 4K UHD rental/purchase because multiple commenters reported the $4.99 price reflects application of promotional credits and showed how much of the credits were being used on the purchase screen.
teenbean djepisode
Minecraft-focused kids and families who want something Minecraft-referenced to watch together because commenters said kids who are "Minecraft game crazy" loved it and they noticed more references after watching.
homer-56k
Parents buying digital for their kids on Amazon who need a PIN step because one commenter said the purchase flow fails to finish after PIN setup (so kids can't just buy everything they want).
Phenomesaurus

Buyers who don't want to deal with Amazon's promotional-credit pricing confusion because commenters said the price can show as "free" with a crossed-out $19.99, may depend on account/credits, and they were second-guessing whether the $4.99 deal is actually applying correctly.
Phenomesaurus Phenomesaurus
Viewers who aren't already into Minecraft or Jack Black because at least one commenter said they fell asleep after watching (they hadn't played much Minecraft), and another said the movie was "so much worse than I thought it was going to be" even though they still liked Jack Black.
homer-56k FashionPagan
People who have $0.00 in Amazon promotional credits and want a straightforward checkout because one commenter said they had $0.00 credits, couldn't tell what was being applied, and found it difficult to identify how the purchase price was calculated.
Phenomesaurus

The purchase flow can show how promotional credits affect the $4.99 price on the confirmation screen.

The Bonus X-Ray Edition is available in UHD for the same $4.99 price on Amazon.
SenseiMike
After purchase, the Bonus X-Ray Edition can populate into a Movies Anywhere account immediately.
Fallen33
Minecraft-focused kids may enjoy the movie more, and watching can lead to increased Minecraft play and references noticed later.
homer-56k

The deal may be confusing to verify because promotional credits can be hard to locate and the purchase price calculation may be unclear.
Phenomesaurus Phenomesaurus
The movie quality can fall short of expectations, with at least one viewer calling it worse than expected despite liking Jack Black and Minecraft.
FashionPagan jmartino2011
Amazon pricing can appear inconsistent, with some views showing "free" and others showing $4.99 due to credits and discounts.
Phenomesaurus
The purchase flow can fail to complete after PIN setup, which can interrupt buying for kids.

Common Questions (5)

The purchase screen can show that the $4.99 price reflects promotional credits, and the confirmation screen shows the total due plus the portion covered by those credits. Checking in incognito versus your signed-in account can reveal whether a discount is being applied.

Yes, the Bonus X-Ray Edition is also available in UHD for the same $4.99 price on Amazon. It reportedly populates in Movies Anywhere immediately after purchase.
SenseiMike Fallen33
The Bonus X-Ray Edition reportedly appears in Movies Anywhere immediately after purchase. The standard listing was also noted as not being MA, so the MA status may depend on which version you buy.
Fallen33 JohhnyApple
It may not hold attention if you are not familiar with Minecraft, while Minecraft-focused kids tend to love it. One viewer who barely played the game fell asleep, but later noticed more references after playing the game more.

Not true. I just purchased the bonus x-ray edition and it immediately populated on my Movies Anywhere account.
