It's gross but it works. 30sec of gross is worth it if your kid sleeps for 4hr after. I always ended up on this duty... I guess it's fair after 9mo of pregnancy and 6mo of breast feeding.

As buddy says, the battery ones are weak.

Karl, if your kid is sick you are going to get sick anyhow. These are for very small kids who are going to be in your arms anyways.

Violet, a syringe doesn't have enough power without a total seal on your infants lungs. You need to move 1-2L of air, not a few mL.

bad idea if your kid is sick, you're inhaling it
better off with a battery operated suction device

These are certainly better than the bulb-style suckers, but I strongly recommend spending the extra money on an electric nasal aspirator. They can easily be found for under $20 (Frida-Baby is on sale for $30 right now). Factor in that this requires a replacement filter after each use and electric options do not.

Every parent should have at least 1 of these as a backup. I've found the battery powered ones to be a bit weak. The best nasal aspirators are the ones that connect to the hose attachment on your vacuum.

I don't know, why not install a syringe on the other end?

Disgusting. Effective. Gross. It works. I have such a bipolar memory of these.

Get an electric one. More effective and less gross -- trust me, I've used both.

I highly recommend the Frida Baby Electric NoseFrida Pro over this. We tried this and the Grownsy electric. What a headache!
Worst part however is battling your child, holding their arms and keeping them from yanking the hose out.

I used it only once and got infected the same day. Then I switched to the Graco's electronic one (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001PBFWMO) and never had any accident.
