I don't see any mention of it in the reviews, which are largely positive.

One notable issue mentioned is lack of S3 sleep. Here's Lenovo's response: "Lenovo, like many OEMs, has transitioned to Modern Standby (S0/S2Idle), which unfortunately can result in significant battery drain during suspend, especially on Linux systems."

This ThinkPad P14s Gen 6 stands out for its unusually large 96GB of RAM and 2TB SSD, making it appealing for AI, video editing, and other memory hungry workloads. The USB C charging and classic ThinkPad keyboard design add practical appeal, and the AMD model keeps the easier keyboard swap approach. Battery life is the main concern, with the 57Wh pack described as modest and Modern Standby raising suspend drain worries on Linux. Coil whine has also been reported, and the plastic shell feels less durable than expected, so it suits buyers who value memory over battery and build heft.

Common Questions (5)

  • The offer is tied to Lenovo US orders over $1000, but Lenovo member/perks portals and other excluded sites can void it. The deal link uses a /vipmembers/perksoffer/ path, so it may be treated like an excluded perks portal; a normal Lenovo checkout with a qualifying code may be safer.

    scissors14c0bra99c0bra99pcgeekpcgeek

  • For typical laptop use it can be overkill, but it is useful for memory-heavy work like local AI models, large codebase analysis, and video editing. The 96GB configuration is also valued because the RAM alone is seen as a major part of the system's cost.

    EricJ19ShiroitnoogenSDSummerDay

  • No discrete GPU is included, so it is not aimed at GPU-heavy rendering or 3D workloads. The high-RAM configuration is better suited to CPU- and memory-heavy tasks such as AI, coding, and some Adobe workflows that can consume a lot of RAM.

    ImagineNoReligiontnoogenOPTICSOURCESDSummerDay

  • It can have coil whine, usually described as light buzzing at low fan speed rather than under full load. Some units reportedly have none, so it appears unit-dependent.

    kangaroombaxiaowangpcgeekpcgeek

  • The 57Wh battery is reported as weak for this class, with heavy-use estimates around 5-8 hours max. Real-world use can be better for lighter tasks, including about 6 hours of full-screen movies with 30% remaining, and the laptop charges over USB-C.

LENOVOHOLIDEAL appears to be dead now.
Purchasing through the link in this deal (perksoffer) price is now 1,539
Using the normal Lenovo site you can use the LENOVOPOWER8 code and get it to 1,559, possibly not invalidating the 500 off 1000 capital one offer since the capital one shopping extension applies this code.

Is the $500 of $1000 offer from the credit card (exclusive for Capital One card holders), or from the Capital One Shopping browser extension?
I believe it's the former?

I get to it from logging into my credit card, clicking view all offers. Then it takes me to this website: https://capitaloneoffers.com/
I wonder if any of the codes applied by the Capital One Shopping extension would invalidate offers from Capital One Offers website?

I feel like I must have just came out of a cave, since when and why does laptop needs 96GB of ram??
and mine has 128G.

it depends on what you use it for, if you do any video editing at all, adobe will eat all the rams out there.

I have one from that deal. No coil whine. Didn't see much of an issue with the battery. Played some movies in full screen for 6 hours straight. Battery was at 30% after that. It charges via USB-C, so you can always take a power bank as a backup if you expect to be on the move without access to AC power.
People can't comprehend that a smaller laptop has a smaller battery.

12/16/25 It says the coupon code is not valid / maybe expired. Price is at $1569. Another part of their website claims a 5% discount for teachers, students, etc with code EXTRAFIVE but that fails too. It says for age 50+ you can get the same 5% off connected to using ID.me.

I received mine, and it does produce coil whine. Fortunately, it's the buzzing kind, not the high-frequency type that I'm particularly sensitive to.

People are complaining about the batteries because the Intel version of P14s has a larger battery. Many people fail to realize that the P14s (Intel) and P14s (AMD) are actually completely different machines with different chassis designs. The Intel version boasts a more modern design that allows for a larger battery, but this comes at the cost of repairability (You have to take the entire laptop apart just to replace the keyboard). On the other hand, the AMD version retains the classic ThinkPad design where you can simply swap out the keyboard without having to take the whole thing apart and it features plastic chassis with a magnesium frame inside, similar to older ThinkPads, so there's really no space for a larger battery despite both laptops having a 14" size.

Yeah I had to return mine. The outer plastic shell just doesn't feel durable enough.
