I don't see any mention of it in the reviews, which are largely positive.

One notable issue mentioned is lack of S3 sleep. Here's Lenovo's response: "Lenovo, like many OEMs, has transitioned to Modern Standby (S0/S2Idle), which unfortunately can result in significant battery drain during suspend, especially on Linux systems."

This ThinkPad P14s Gen 6 stands out for its unusually large 96GB of RAM and 2TB SSD, making it appealing for AI, video editing, and other memory hungry workloads. The USB C charging and classic ThinkPad keyboard design add practical appeal, and the AMD model keeps the easier keyboard swap approach. Battery life is the main concern, with the 57Wh pack described as modest and Modern Standby raising suspend drain worries on Linux. Coil whine has also been reported, and the plastic shell feels less durable than expected, so it suits buyers who value memory over battery and build heft.

  • The 96GB RAM configuration can support memory-heavy AI workflows beyond basic Q&A tasks.

    EricJ19tnoogenjbwhite99

  • The deal can be boosted with Capital One $500 off $1000+ financing offers when eligibility rules are met.

    scissors14c0bra99

  • The laptop can charge via USB-C, which can help when traveling without immediate AC power access.

    kangaroomba

  • The system may offer strong battery endurance for media playback workloads based on a reported full-screen movie test.

    kangaroomba

  • Coil whine can occur, including buzzing-type noise after delivery, even if it may not show under full load.

    xiaowangpcgeekpcgeek

  • Modern Standby behavior can cause significant battery drain during suspend, especially on Linux systems.

    Lacosmo

  • Battery capacity concerns can arise because the 57Wh battery is described as abysmal by at least one buyer.

    ohbouy

  • The outer plastic shell can feel insufficiently durable, leading to returns for some buyers.

I notice in the URL for the product it has /vipmembers/perksoffer/ does that make it a "perks at work" offer?

Wondering if anything about this link and coupon would make it ineligible for the 500 off 1000 capital one offer.
Looking at the capital one offer, it has these exclusions:

Review exclusions: Offer can only be used one time per customer. Rate subject to change. The spend requirement must be met in a single transaction, on non-excluded items, after discounts, store credits, and redemption dollars are applied, and before taxes and shipping fees are applied. Not eligible on Lenovo Corporate Employee Purchase Programs (ex: Perks at Work, Beneplace, or any corporate discount store affinity site) and Lenovo Member Purchase Stores/Portals for your organization (MPP), Lenovo/IBM/Motorola Employee Purchase Programs (EPP), Lenovo Outlet items, and Solutions sub-sites including; Large Enterprise, State & Local Government, Federal Government, Healthcare, K-12 Education, Higher Education, Students, Partner Portal, Military Portal. Not eligible on warranties and/or protection plans. Payouts can only be researched for up to 90 days from the order date. Only eligible on orders completed and shipped through the Lenovo US site. All orders placed through other countries will void payouts.

Yes you did. When did you enter the cave? 2K Tech Bubble, 2K8 Mortgage Bubble, COVID Tech Boom? Haven't you heard, we in the AI Boom now. Rams are crazy expensive these days. Everybody want that extra ram for running that new local LLM...

But there's no gfx card on this one. What's the use case here?

Think: AI is not only brain compute power but also need memory. It's not just a simple question and answer anymore.

Everything need more memory. Bigger than 8K media. Read and analyze entire code repository, follow all these coding rule/restrictions, and use it to create this particular features. All these features have to work together and so on...

AI responses can be slow to write code, instead of waiting, some people also want to run multiple AI Agents working like a connected team to work on a bunch of features done fast. These are just some examples.

Yes, light coil whine at low fan speed. Not observed in full load.

Is this the model with reports of strong coil whine?

This has 96GB of memory since it has a Strix processor - which can allocate half of the memory as a LVRAMcache (or to that effect). It can be used for various AI purposes.

Does anyone know how to enable advanced bios on these things? calling their tech support and talking to their reps had me going in circles for over an hour. Tried several things online and nothing.

when did we get to the point where manufacturers think it is OK to sell a list price $2700 laptop without a discrete graphics card?!?... and then claim that it is for "heavy tasks" like rendering? Lenovo, you are trying to run a scam and I am calling you out.
