Does it really make sense to have this. Can I program it with my phone or auto brew ?

I personally do not like the coffee it makes, it is not suited to my taste, the coffee comes out very weak and I know it is not the beans since I buy fresh beans and the taste is great on my espresso machine! No way to program this with a phone or auto brew

I had this machine, the coffee was horrible, no matter what you do or what beans you use, its not even mid sadly. I sold this for a breville barista pro and what a difference.

It does fine for it's purpose, which is a quick coffee. My wife uses it. I used to pull from my pid gaggia classic and baratza sette but don't anymore since the baby came. Espresso is better from a Nespresso...

Have you tried increasing the water temp? I just got one of these machines and I read the temp can make a difference.

With all super automatics you kinda have to dial it in for what you want. If you want good esspresso out of Philips machines:
  1. Set the grind to as fine as it will go
  2. Set the water temp at the highest temp
  3. set the intensity to the highest possible setting

This is the exact same experience I had with this machine. Previously had a full manual espresso setup (Breville Bambino + DF64) but got sick of all the extra work and dialing in. Bought the philips machine and returned it after 2 years (thanks Costco) because it truly just didn't make great espresso.

All the Philips line is meh. I owned 2 of these from Costco and returned both. If u like milked drinks, its ok then but for coffee alone , its only average and overpriced.

I ended up with the $499 BF Delongi Evo from Costco.

Here's the coffee puck size on both machines ..notice the Philips is much smaller so less strong coffee. The Delongi makes way better coffee. As usual, use Lavazzo mid roast beans, set dial to fine setting, throw away the 1st 15-20 cups to "dial" in the grounds.

The Philips also has a ceremic grinder and the Delongi uses Burr (The Delongi is also made in Romania)

This. Doing these steps improved the taste dramatically. Also, I noticed the taste doesn't improve until after about running it 10x of so, when the coffee grounds are dried and shape like a puck. I wish the machine allows a little more drink customization though, like extra milk or controlling the amount of foam. But I guess that's too much to ask out of the ~$200 I paid for it.

These have a smaller coffee dose than others, but can't you just maximize strength, minimize water, and do an x2 shot to get something resembling an espresso? If not, a Delonghi at a similar price seems like a better option (been happy with mine).

Yeah I use mine as a replacement for my OG Nesspresso. Honestly, it was disguisting how much waste I was creating with those Nespresso pods.
