1080P when most are going to 4K. You can find decent cams, dual channel, 4K for low hundred price points. Personally, I've had good luck with 70Mai, specifically A810. They usually go for $130 or slightly less. However, I get it if you're worried about the CCP spying on your driving habits.
That's "the vault" and is optional. It's more a convenience thing as once you get home and if you car is within your house WiFi, it'll auto upload everything to the vault. Now if you don't pay, your clips still stay in the vault for 24 hours. But they stay on the memory card forever until you delete. So in summary, it's more convenient since you don't have to sit in your car with the ignition on to pull off the videos. They'd be waiting for you in the vault.

Been using Viofo dashcams for years. Recently ran into the DDPAI Z60 Pro dual channel for about $100 in AliExpress after coupon. Also sold in Amazon for $125 during Black Friday. Comparable in specs with the Viofo A229 Pro. It has Sony Starvis 2 IMX678 for the front and Sony Starvis 2 IMX662 for the rear. Checkout youtube and dashcamtalk for reviews.

I have the mini 2 and like it for what it is. Voice activated and virtually invisible / so small it's out of the way (good if you are worried about thieves breaking in to get it).
Also if you have 2 garmins in the same car, you can export the videos and embed the front Picture in Picture into the larger back video. Or vice versa.
I like just saying "ok garmin, save video" vs fumbling for a small button (which you still can do) while I'm driving , to save an event.
Was about to get one untill I looked at the reviews... Nearly all one star!
I hate how Amazon aggregates all models into one rating. This one has at best 2 stars
If you're looking for a minimalist dash cam, check out the Viofo VS1. I've had it for about a year, and three friends have gotten their own after seeing my install and some sample videos. 2K resolution, GPS, Starvis2 IMX675 sensor, slightly janky app. I'm a Garmin user (smartwatch, bike computer), but the stats and reviews of the Mini series don't seem promising to me.
$110 right now at Amazon and the manufacturer's site, but it's gotten down to $100 during previous sales.

I have 2 of the previous versions of the Garmin dashcam. I went with those because a friend has had one for years and it's always been trouble free. That was one reason but the other BIGGER one was the fact that I got sideswiped in my other car that had one of the various crazy named dash cams(and rear view mirror backup cam) that had tons of great reviews on amazon but when I went to pull the footage it hadn't recorded. I swear I will never buy another odd named Chinese piece of electronics again regardless of ratings where I have to depend on it working. The two other garmin dashcams may not be the most current tech, but they ALWAYS work when I go back and review footage.
