I once bought something with the ebay "allstate" warranty. It stopped working so I invoked the warranty. They insisted on some type of cash-register type receipt or invoice to process the warranty claim. Obviously, ebay sellers don't include such things, at least this one didn't (it was a replacement internal laptop battery). When I explained that I was never given any type of invoice or receipt since it was an Ebay sale, they refused to cover it. Of course, Allstate has access to the sales records since they are closely connected to Ebay when the Allstate warranties are added to the sale, so they really didn't need anything from me. Fortunately, the next day it started working again and has worked since. But a valuable lesson was learned that day, Allstate warranties are a scam.

A lot of credit cards have protections for these types of things. Not necessarily a solution or something to rely on but something that could be a good safeguard if this were to happen again.

This seems more like user error. ALL Amazon and ebay sellers include invoices on ALL sales. There are no exceptions.

You have to go into My Ebay > Purchases > View Order details > Printer friendly page on Desktop. You get all the necessary info including the order number. The order number and when you purchased it are the most important pieces of information when submitting a claim. Those prove the order was legitimate when checking their internal sales records.

I have no experience with Allstate but this is basic boilerplate when submitting RMAs.

Many only cover new item and I think some do not support eBay third party sellers .

These are M1 Pro chips. The seller guarantees minimum 80% battery health and many customers have posted the conditions are better than expected. This computer is still a beast and is a good editing station on a budget.

Why couldn't you use your invoice from eBay? If you could get ahold of a human on Allstate, ask why they could sell a warranty on something they won't honor? I'd probably go deeper and report them to the BBB and others. It's tedious, but will open some eyes.

Edit: Whenever buying some type of warranty like this, take the time to read the fine print.

They don't support 3rd party sellers but will gladly sell you a warranty.

I'm sorry you had that experience but they have to cover it if you indeed got a warranty with it. I just purchased a couple refurbished items with an Allstate warranty and they sent me emails with the warranty info right after purchase. You can just print your order details in your eBay account and use that as the receipt. Insurance companies are the worst. Next time report them to the insurance commissioner if they refuse to cover it. That's always worked for me. But glad it started working again for you.

It wasn't a big deal, it was a cheap $50 product and in the end it started working again, and still works to this day. But the lesson to learn is to get an invoice if one isn't provided. If one is provided, hold on to it. Just the ebay order details page printed to PDF wouldn't be accepted by Allstate. So when this computer arrives, make sure the seller provides some official looking invoice from his or her business.
The problem I had with Allstate did not stop me from making a purchase here, the computer arrived today, I will check the box for an invoice and follow my advice given above.
