EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra is being framed as a serious whole home backup and peak rate battery system, with enough capacity to keep a house running for a while and strong value at this price. The trolley is included, though it only carries one 6 kWh battery, not the full 12 kWh setup. The federal 30 percent clean energy credit appears to apply to the battery and installation costs if the system is installed and placed in service by December 31, 2025. The main uncertainty is the offer language around installation and eligibility, which is still unclear. It looks most compelling for outage backup or high time of use rates, especially where electricity is expensive.

novice question; can these 3 units have a longer riser cable that enables you to hang each unit flat against a wall? i have always preferred the space saving "power wall" style version, than this dorm fridge on wheels.

The installation part is a big unknown. No clear language towards it.
I agree - a while back I read it had to be installed by a contractor. (permits, invoices etc.)

I had an extensive 'chat' w/AIs about this - what 'it' said was it comes down to a check-list showing it's configured & running - this is simply incase of an audit.

It DOES NOT need to be installed by a contractor!!!
You should not need a permit to install a portable generator!
Depending on your area/location, You may need a permit for roof mounted panels.
Simply add a transfer switch or interlock kit and a generator inlet box.
It just needs to produce energy to offset your electric bill, if you're worried about IRS sending a pencil pusher to look at your electrical system.
Basically get a cheap/used solar panel and connect it to the DPU, then plug a few items into the DPU and you are good, until your final install.

I love the idea of having one of these for our typical short-term power outages. There is something about one of the Costco images showing a guy firing up his Honda EU7000 generator with it plugged into the exterior wall to recharge his power bank that makes me question why spend all this money when you can just plug in the generator to your breaker box using an interlock (I have this setup) and save the cash for other items? The only downside for myself is the hassle of keeping non-ETOH gasoline and running the generator monthly as part of a maintenance routine. I would love to just be able to run the cord from inside the garage (no worry about CO poisoning) to my exterior wall plug and not mess with setting up the inverter/generator but not for this price.

If you need it for power outages, get gas if longer than 6 hours of peak power consumption needed.

If you are doing TOU augmenting, this only works out math wise if you are spending like $600+ a year on peak usage and year that you can 0 out else repayment time isn't worth it as battery prices will continue to decrease over time and a dollar today is worth way more than a dollar 5 years from now.

If you have solar, this could extend you based on power usage after peak sun...but we found the math just doesn't work, repayment period for us is over 10 years based on night usage and our off peak is 0.08/kw.

So model it out based on your usage to see if it makes sense under 5 year repay.

Seems it was made vague on purpose.
One could interpret installation as just put in place in your garage near your electrical panel etc. It could also mean having the inlet installed and hooked up to your panel. No one even knows.

I also wonder how they even plan on verifying installation date, if you get audited say, 2 yrs from now

I'm glad we're grandfathered in to vanilla net metering as any power we make on our system is basically equivalent to power we use. We do get TOU but mostly to make it cheaper to charge our cars.I got a smaller battery for backup recently as once every 3-4 months we've been having downtime, should be enough to keep things in our fridge from spoiling and maybe have a light or two on.

Temptation has shifted from a DPUX to this and.. do they make a hub to connect two dpu or is it just the smart panel?
They do but this is where the DPUX is better, it can do 12kW so you only need one for 50A to the house instead of needing a hub.

When you click on the deal there is no mention of the trolly in the deal. I believe it will come with a 4 wheel tray the unit sits on, but the pictured trolly is different than the tray.

Exactly. And this change does nothing to help people and everything to help utility companies.

Yes, Johnny - I should have made this clearer - a 'homeowner check list' should suffice showing completion on/ before 12-31.

I do not think a solar panel is required but this would be safer.

Are you able to charge the DPU from the generator?
yes, we plug in one cord from the lp generator output outside to the outside inlet, then plug the 2nd cord into the inside inlet (on the opposite side of the outside inlet), then plug the other end of the cord into the dpu input.
